    Morning peeps

very windy here this morning but a nice 16 degrees inside and a surprising 9 degrees outside - i say surprising as it feels much colder with the wind.

Everything is still off so i`m happy :D

I`ve just checked the washing on the airer upstairs and most of it has dried which i didn`t expect - just the thicker things are still damp. I wish that the showers would stop outside as the wind would really help as i washed a load of towels and jeans last night so will struggle to get those dry.

Thanks for all the supportive comments yesterday when i shared the bad news, fair brought a tear to my eye and really gave the OS determination a real boost, i know that i love this place and and i know why - the peeps that post and help each other are real gems and i couldn`t hope to "meet" a nicer bunch :A

Hiya. I am going to put mine on now I think. My eldest son seems to be coming down with something so heating will be on for an hour in the morning and then an hour before bed if its cold. If its cold inbetween we have the electric fire in the living room. Fingers crossed he doesnt get anything but with all the bugs going round he probably will. :( Although none of the kids have complained about being cold. Dh will be happy anyway!!! :P

But I am so pleased we lasted till this long, thanks to everyone that kept me going! Not quite so worried about having the heating on now. :D Good luck to everyone still doing it.

  • We are still managing with the gas fire in the evenings. Had the heating on two days in October buts its very mid here by the seaside at present so no problem. I keep thinking about the cash we are saving towards the big freeze they say we will get.

21C certainly isn't ideal in my world I would feel sick if my house was that hot. I have my heating (when it's on) at 16C with the occassional boost up to 18C if it's a particularly icy cold day and that's more than warm enough for me.

I'm another who finds that central heating just makes me feel horrible.

Heating is still off here and we are still wearing t-shirts around the house so we shouldn't need it on for a wee while yet hopefully.

We just bought a new bed and a new duvet- 13.5 tog instead of our old and worn 10.5 tog so I'm expecting to be very snuggly in the nights now :j I also have a huge snuggly dressing gown which is like wrapping myself in a fuzzy sleeping bag so that will keep me warm through the day when it gets chillier (I work from home).

I have to agree, our house is never this warm unless dh banks up the coal fire too much then i end up sitting in another room as it is too hot.

I just copied and pasted those guidelines from previous posts
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).

It's currently off and as it's reasonably mild, I don't plan to switch it back on until the sun drops when temperatures start to fall. However, I now spend any sedentary time indoors wearing a body warmer and a pair of woollen fingerless gloves which keep my hands nice and warm for typing, or reading.

Well ours is off again and will stay off as long as possible.

Its 13 degrees outside and 16 degrees inside. The doggies have a sleeping bag on their beds to get covered up with and i have another fleece that they can have if needs be, the cat has taken to using her furry bed which has been long ignored so they will be fine. The little old doggie is not very mobile so i need to keep him warm.

DH went into work this morning and the company has gone into receivership so it looks like we will be living on fresh air for a while :-(

Still off here but tempted to put it on. It is so miserable today - grey, windy and rainy. So I feel a bit chilly. The thermostat tells me it's no colder than other days though. I have to go out in a while so I'll see how I feel when I come back.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

i would guess moisture content in the air lowers the temperature--so you will feel colder on wet days--nice and sunny here but chilly in the evenings--i ride a motorbike and wish i had a timer to set the heating going before i get home--turkey is weird in that no one ever has a timer fitted and they cost a fortune as non standard item-heating was on last night-- edit--i forgot to say because i have a pneumonic cold on my chest--i am a teacher and go from hot classrooms into cold corridors with doors continually wafting outside air in!!--i hate the heating on--burning my hard fought money--less about year 5!!!---my wife and i own the school and we havent had the heating system on yet--it uses airconditioners that cost a fortune and they only heat the classrooms and office!
