  • Still not put ours on,so I'm a happy bunny.
It's not been that cold realy and at least I have'nt had to suffer feeling lethargic, headachy and just generally yucky because of the dry heat.
I'm happy with things as they are at the moment,it's not realy that chilly and at least by keeping busy to keep warm I get things done and lose a few pounds in the process.
    Can't lose realy.

living abroad i get my meters read by a little man on the first of every month and he gives me 'parking style' tickets for each service--water gas and electricity-it applies any discounts or fees and makes things very easy to control--the charges are paid by dd direct from my bank at the end of the month.--instead of these salesman touting their providers the uk companies could learn a trick about customer service which might win them customers for just good service!--

  • Our heating has been put on in the evenings just before baby has a bath if it is chilly (less than 18 degrees) - but once she is in her sleepysuit and cozy warm I turn it off again. We had our loft re-insulated earlier this year and I can really tell the difference with the house staying much warmer for longer even with the heating off.

It is sunny and mild today and I am wearing a t-shirt! At the moment if the heating does go on, we only warm the house to about 18 degrees - just enough to take the chill off.

It's off at the moment, got all the windows open too, it's windy and sunny so lovely to get some fresh air blowing through the house. The central heating or gas fire is now on after tea if we feel the chill. I've got a bad back so need to feel comfortable.

    Well done everyone.

so far only had to put heating on when i've not been able to get the clothes dry but even then i don't put it on till around 9 oclock so it warms the house a bit too however if no washing to get dry it will be staying off untill it's less than 17c in house and even then will have to be very carefull. The gas bill is a bit easier to manage when i read meter every few days or more if i need to have it on extra when very very cold It's my electric thats the problem kids with gadgets forgetting to turn things off we used 39 units in just over one day words will be said later today. If only the electric was as easy

IT'S off today 19c in house no reason to have it on yet unless it drops tonight got a fair bit of washing to get dry and it could do with an iron on it too so i will iron straight from washer then hang on airer hopefully thay will be dry before they are needed as it's chucking it down again

my first morning of having the heating on today. I thought i was going to pass out!! far to hot in bedroom when i got up and when i came downstairs the heat just hit me! so its going off again as upstairs there is no way to adjust the radiators!!!!! i had to go outside to feel normal again! And dd was up before me sat on her floor playing so there will be tantrums later as she will be tired from school! :( Knew I should have kept it off!!! lol

39 units in one day????? Some mistake surely?

What gadgets were they using? That's equivalent to boiling the kettle for 13 hours continuously.

What is your normal daily useage?
  • My OH keeps turning it on without telling me! And as soon as I notice I turn it off without telling him :D lol

It's on for an average of 30-45mins a day I'd say, thank lordy for this mild weather we're having!

  • still off here. Made it past 1st November without even noticing. We're moving from our south-facing southern bedsit to a northern 3-bed terrace in February so we're trying to not put the heating on at all so that we're prepared for the cold up north.

The blankets and hot water bottles are out but at the moment it's more a case of being cosy and snuggly rather than actively trying to keep warm.
    Times is 'ard.
