Don't know about December 1st but I'm going to see how long I last!

Can I ask a question? The people who have been holding out for as long as possible, once on do you have it on all the time? What are your temperature settings? Do you have it on for a few hours a day? I'm curious!
I have a radiator in each room which you have to turn on and off manually.I won't have them on while I'm at work.
As for how long I'll have them on on a day-to-day basis,it really depends on how cold it gets.
I did have a problem two winters ago with mould on the north-facing sitting room wall. This came about because I had three bookcases shoved together too close, and no air could circulate at the back.It was also bitterly cold.
I'm always careful now to avoid having too high a level of humidity-I've got a gadget that shows temp and humidity.I believe that a humidity level over 60% is too high.If it's over 60,I open the windows for a while.
Today it's mild again,14c.The sun has made an occasional appearance.I've got all the windows open,I'll probably keep them open all day-love it!
PS Heating still off.;)0 -

When it was very cold and we had snow last Jan I had it on nearly all day ... gas bill was awful! I don't know what temperature mine's on - the TRVs have numbers and I have it at different numbers in different rooms.
Have you tried turning down the flame on your boiler, and perhaps keeping the radiators on a low setting (esp bedrooms/hallway/kitchen/bathroom)?
My bills used to be horrendous; Its made all the difference to me.0 -
Mines been on for a couple of weeks now but only for a few hours in the evening. My living room is a pretty chilly room, even in summer, it has a 9' window which while not appearing to let in a draught makes the room really cold. We have one wide rad under the window but its only about 12" high and takes ages to heat the room
We had a nice gas fire till the council decided it was too old and they took it out:mad: I bought polyester wadding and have padded my living room curtains, I tuck the bottoms behind the rad when I draw them and this seems to keep the warmth in :j I'd rather be warm and a bit poorer than freezing cold and able to say I held off till Xmas:eek:

Still off, but what a miserable, gloomy day it is today. Damp & misty. It makes you feel chilly even if you aren't.
I don't think I will last much longer now, I can see the gas fire going on tomorrow.
I'm very happy to have made it this far though.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0 -
Another sunny day here and temp in living room is over 18 degrees with no heating. If it stays like this tomorrow the window fitters should get on well. :jLost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
