Is your heating ON or OFF?

Just a reminder for those of you worried or reluctant to use your heating, please make sure your body temperature is safe.
All temperatures degrees C
Below 9 - risk of hypothermia
12 - too cold - increased risks of heart attacks and strokes
15- Discomfort - risk of respiratory illness
18- Comfortable house temp
21- Ideal house temp
24- plus (we should be so lucky)Hot ,reduce heat stay warm. Babies may overheat
It might be a good idea if someone remembers to post this every couple of pages or so for newcomers to the thread?
21C certainly isn't ideal in my world I would feel sick if my house was that hot. I have my heating (when it's on) at 16C with the occassional boost up to 18C if it's a particularly icy cold day and that's more than warm enough for me.
I'm another who finds that central heating just makes me feel horrible.
Heating is still off here and we are still wearing t-shirts around the house so we shouldn't need it on for a wee while yet hopefully.
We just bought a new bed and a new duvet- 13.5 tog instead of our old and worn 10.5 tog so I'm expecting to be very snuggly in the nights now :j I also have a huge snuggly dressing gown which is like wrapping myself in a fuzzy sleeping bag so that will keep me warm through the day when it gets chillier (I work from home).0 -
I'm really glad the weather has decided to warm up a bit. Im really happy we have lasted this long and can just take it one day at a time.
The thermals i got my ds's have paid for themselves now so i may make them wait until 1st december :rotfl:0 -
Bad news over gas prices here:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1324875/Britains-second-biggest-energy-firm-hikes-9-4--set-follow.htmlConsumer groups have urged consumers to switch suppliers after the UK's second biggest energy firm hiked gas prices by 9.4 per cent.
Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) said today it will increase gas prices from 1 December in a move affecting 3.6million customers.
The company blamed a 25 per cent increase in the wholesale price of gas since March for the price hike, which means the average annual household bill will increase by £4.64 a month to £650.

November last year the International Energy Agency predicted a global gas glut, with prices set to fall. Are these energy companies making excess profits again? More hardship for the poor.

I'm confident now of making it to November before switching my heating on and I am going to see how long I can hold out for!

Off at the moment, and have seized the opportunity of breezy sunshine to wash & dry our bed linen outside. Ashamed to admit that if it's wet or damp, I let the sheets stay on the bed until the next sunny day comes around!0

Mines on, at a low radiator thermostat setting (1 or 2), with the boiler flame set to halfway, and half of the radiators turned off. :rotfl:
I set the timer to come on from 7am to 11pm at night, but have found since turning the boiler flame down, my gas use has been very economical.0
