Well done to all of you who are still hanging in there for November 1st.

It's on here again tonight. I wanted to put the log fire on tonight but I'm not well and figured I didn't have the energy to keep getting up and down to put logs on the fire.
  • A sunny and mild day here.It was 7c outside this morning at 6am and 11c this evening at 6pm when I got home.

Tomorrow the same mild, sunny day apparently, then the weekend cloudy and rainy with the lowest temp at 5c.

The heating is still off of course! :money:

"The Final Countdown - Let's all stay strong together until the 1st November"

Hey! How we doin? Over halfway there now for the week :j

My heating is still OFF and it's less mild here tonight than it has been, still ok though and coping fine!

4 days down and 3 days left so lets hope the mildness continues for a while longer.

And remember what I post below, its more important than worrying about keeping to the challenge

Don't worry if you don't manage this week. It's better to keep warm and cosy if you need to
Still off here too! I was in someone's centrally heated house today and felt awful - much too warm and stuffy for me. It's a little chilly right now but am off for a hot shower and then warm PJs and dressing gown will keep me snug.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

    Still OFF ! :T

Hubby bought a small Callor Gas fire from a camping store though so that is helping.
    :rotfl:

Keep warm and dry everyone :j
Please be very careful with camping heaters as they are not room sealed or vented, they can build up carbon monoxide quite quickly and there have been a few camping deaths as a result of inadequate ventilation
  • Its a small bottled gas (Calor Gas) fire bought from Go Outdoors, not a camping Heater as such as for a Caravan. :)
Failure is only someone elses judgement.
Without change there would be no butterflies.
If its important to you, you'll find a way - if not, you'll find an excuse ! ~ Easy to say when you take money out of the equation!

Thank goodness, I was worried to death. The larger ones have an oxygen analyzer which puts the flame out if there is insufficient oxygen supply.

We had a similar type thing when we lived in a freezing attic flat.
The one thing I will say to watch out for with these is a bit of condensation, as it's liquid gas, but they do throw out a good heat.

The gas bottles were very heavy up three flights of stairs back in the day, but the OH was a spring chicken .:)

Still off here aswell. I am at work today so there will be no temptation to put it on which is good as its blowing a gale outside and I've been able to hear it all night.

  • We have'nt got ours on either.
It's very mild though despite the howling gale outside.
We've not been in very much this week anyway so it would'nt have been on long in anycase if it had been on.
November next week so I won't feel guilty if I put it on then, but if it stays like this I won't need to and might be able to manage till Dec like we did in previous years.
It's not that I'm being mean and we do have a couple of hundred pounds credit on our energy account,it's just that the central heating does'nt make me feel very comfortable.
I'd rather be cold and have to keep warm than have the dry heat from central heating and besides I have all my windows open from dusk till nightfall as I just love the fresh air.
I do this even when there is a heavy frost on the ground, always have done.
Makes me feel alive, central heating just makes me feel lethargic and thats not a nice feeling.

We have ours on for a few hours in morning and few hours in evening. But my housemates keep turning it on for longer grrrrrr, they're paying more of the gas bill if we're not still in credit by next bill
