We had to put ours on last night, just to get the house up to 17 degrees, it only had to come on for half an hour then stayed off the rest of the night. Not worth putting a woodburner on for that.
But my one year old woke up this morning early, cold, as he had thrown his duvet off.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
14 degrees in my room right now, I was freezing earlier but I'm used to it now.
There's no point putting the storage heaters on unless I'm going to be in all day and it's really cold. Our neighbour's flat is a mirror image of ours, and the guy with the same room as me said last year it was too cold to sleep in for two weeks. Then I might put a heater on... Or just sleep downstairsLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
I was reading before about the temperatures in everyones homes. I have NO idea at all how warm/cold it is in my flat but I have just been sat on the loo (too much information I know) looking through into my living room (where DS is playing and the sun is coming through the window) and could see steam (??) rising out of the plug in air freshener
. Now I hardly ever use these but I had the fryer on last night (again hardly ever use) and I am now convinced my flat smells of fat
. Have been over and checked and its not overly warm but i am now even more curious about the temperature in here!!!

It's lovely and sunny here today - just over 21c outside and just under 20c inside. My DD1 is doing her DofE bronze walk today and I think it will be just ideal weather for it - warm but breezy (mind you we did drop her off at Windy Corner which stood up to its name this morning!)0

I remember waking up to the radio one morning and the weatherman said it's minus 8 in Benson which was about 2 miles away from us and I was nearly in tears at the thought of having to get out of bed at 6am to go to work. It was so cold in the winter our cats - all 4 of them - used to get under the duvet with us and stay there all night
I remember being so happy when I passed my driving test as the car had a heater! :rotfl:
Two years ago I lived in a rented house with no central heating - just an open fire in the living room. I also worked in a building with no central heating. In winter I used to love driving to work because it was the only time I was properly warm!
I love my 70s house with the heating. But I want to save up for a woodburner in the living room - I do miss having a fire. We have turned ours on but the thermostat is at 16. Need to check the timer - I think it is coming on too early.Grocery Challenge £114.22/ £1100 -
Just arrived home and its was gloriously sunny, the sky has now gone black so think that we`re in for a downpour. The usual weather site is dow atm so can`t check whats in store for later.
Inside its 15 degrees and outside its 12 so fingers crossed for later.
If the temp drops too much i may put the gas fire on for half an hour, we`ve not used it for over a year but its nice to know that its there if we need it. Its a horrible old fashioned thing but does the job.

oh what a lovely day today. I got 2 lots of sheets and duvet covers washed (in cold water) and dried and now spread over chairs to air as it is 22 in and 14 out. No heating on but the sun has been shining in and this house retains the heat. We are expecting more of the same tomorrow so I have just put another wash on the line which I am expecting to be able to bring in late morning as we get the sun all day long. I just bought a cheap max/min thermometer for outside as I want to know if we are in a frost pocket as it is a new house and I have lots of little plants and potatoes in bags etc
We may be able to do without the stove this evening as the tv keeps the little tv room warm0 -
I had to get up at 5.30 this morning and it was real cool out, temp inside read 18 so I put the heating on to 22 degrees , had it on for hour then off it went......been nice out today,
I cant make out how come people say that if they light a candle there room warm up,!!! or put the TV on it warms up,...unless their room is the size of a shoe box I cant see that happening .....0
