New boiler with new central heating and yes its on as of last thursday - I am so grateful for warm bathroom towels for a change as went through the coldest winter for years with very little heat last year and vowed never again. I work hard and need to be warm and can economise in other ways I feel. On first thing and then at night time so not on much during the day (yet!)Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0

I feel a bit of trigger-finger hovering over the ON switch of the central heating but will work at resisting. Cliffhanger.... more news tomorrow!
Haha, I will await the next installment! I feel the same, was very tempted to put it on this evening but am ok now I think. I hope you and anyone else feeling below par are better soon. xTrying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

well i had the heating on this morning for about 30 mins and also early evening for the same time, ive only been using the 2 radiators in the front room all the others are off. My living room has been about 17 during the day with no heating but ive heard on the weather report next week is going to get colder
Atm the heating is off as ive got my fleecy dressing gown onI will lose 2 stone by this summer!!!!!!0 -
This evening the temptation to switch on is very strong. I am still under the weather and DH is bed with a bad cold. DD said she is freezing (although I know that it is nothing that an extra jumper would not cure!).
The woodstove is definitely going on this evening and we will have a baked meal tonight so there will be more heat spread through the house.

Considering I'm only a few miles from you can't believe you've resisted!
At 6pm it was 14c in my living room, I'm a softy southerner and fine with it:D
We've crumbled, both feeling below par so now have a coal fire roaring and the heating on. Bliss
Living room has now reached 20c, (just checked) so off to turn heating off.0 -
Its now on. I got fed up of being miserable with the cold despite extra layers, fleecy blankets and early nights. Its only on for an hour in the morning and one or two in the evening. Not on in the day at all. Kids now happyI am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order

Well I caved and bought myself a thermometer this morning. Checked the living room this afternoon and it was 11C moved it bedroom and ................(goes to check) its showing 9C. Wow I had no idea what kind of temp I was living in
. I have to say its been chilly the last couple of nights but I dont find it too desperate yet so will keep going without the heating on and just stick the gas heater on if I get too cold. I was woken by my phone going late last night and thought it was a little cool at that point so if I get a few more nights like that I may have to bite the bullet and put the thicket duvet on

Best way to beat the chill is to put a hot water bottle between your feet and the floor, with a thick newspaper layer underneath for insulation. The warmth rises up your body and keeps you toasty. Also, you will have boiled a kettleful of water and made a large flask of tea or any hot drink you like, and sip of it deeply throughout the evening while you post on mse. Hey presto, what cold weather? :ABe careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

We have had the thick duvet on the last few nights and it has been bliss. The one thing I miss about the summer one is how easy it is to change the cover. The 13 tog jobbie needs two of us these days as I am getting a bit feeble.
If I am really cold I get a fleece blanket next to me under the duvet, it's amazing how warm they are.
Primark had fleece sleeping bags for little'uns probably do up to age 11 or so, didn't catch the price sorry, but thought they would be good for those kiddies that throw the duvet off.0 -
Folded tonight - it has turned bitterly cold so I have put the heating on until 10pmBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Weather sites still down :-( hope its back up and running soon as i really like that one.
Temperature inside is holding at 15 degrees although it somehow seems colder and outside its 5 degrees.
Actually it probably seems colder as i`ve washed my hair and its wet so it seems that i`ve answered my own question. Hairdryer isn`t going on though
