Defi nitely on here this morning after last night's frost although it goes off at 8.30 am and I try to get my washing done early, out of the machine and hanging up in the bathroom to take advantage of the residual heat for drying.
  • We have heating. Was 13 degrees in the house last night. Had to scrape the windscreen this morning which is the first time this year so I think it is about time it went on.

I had to scrape ice off all my car windows when I came out of work this morning following a night shift. It was -3 degrees C according to my car. It took me 1 1/2 hours to get home on a journey that normally takes 20 mins. The road out of York in my direction was closed because of flooding and then there was an accident on the A19 slowing down the traffic to a crawl.

My house was 12 degrees when I got home so have put on heating for an hour before I go to bed. Gonna put a wheat bag in my bed before I get in. I am very cold.
  • We put ours on a couple of days ago as I came down witha throat infection and now it's gone to my chest so although I don't want to be cold, the dry warm air is'nt very comfortable.
Guess you can't win and I should'nt moan.
Mind you it was frozen outside this morning.
The windows were dripping wet inside and OH had to scrape ice off the car.
Still it is 1st December so we must'nt grumble it's only to be expected.

    Hi

I've put my central heating back on for now because it is absolutely freezing here at the moment. I will put it off once I warm up. Normally though we don't need much because our flat is toasty when the downstairs neighbours have their heating on. OH doesn't feel the cold (well apart from his feet which he will happily cover with a wooly blankie.) and I would rather sit with a blacket over my knees and a cardi on than have massive bills (I can find much better ways to spend my money)

But I must say it is absolutely freeeeeezing here at the moment but it is December :snow_grin Have a lovely day

Awww...pinch punch first of the month :rotfl:
It is -2 outside. In the house it is about 17C or 65F with one convector heater on. A little on the cold side but I am moving around and doing choirs which keep me warm. Lunch time I might light the coal fire, it depends if I decide to go shopping as the fire has to be watched or it goes out. A non work day so plenty of choirs instead.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.
  • CH is still off, but I was freezing getting out of the shower this morning! We had another coal fire last night, and we've got an electric heater that we put on for 30 mins in our spare room to take the chill off if one of us stays at home to study which is rare (I tend to go to the library because at least it's warmer there!)

Other than the electric heater which we've had on for 30 mins about 3 times I've not used any gas or elec to heat the house since pre spring :D
*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*

I have just read through this entire thread and am really impressed :T
I haven't long moved into my own flat and as soon as the cold weather started I didn't consider not putting the heating on. However, this has really made me rethink my views & I will be ensuring that tonight I will not put the heating on unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks for the inspiration I will let you know how I get on!
