Is your heating ON or OFF?

Our heating is on now everyday for an hour in the morning and about two and a half in the evening, at weekends it is much the same with just a boost about the back of lunchtime if it is getting cold. I have now started reading electricity and gas meters every week and submit the readings so I can see how my bills are shaping up compared to my direct debit payments.Every days a School day!0

I've started submitting readings more regularly too... its scary to see how much electricity we get through every week! I'm sure I'm the most guilty of this because of using the tumble dryer! Although OH does also have the tv on most of the day, even though hes asleep!'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0 -
Very thankful for my nice coal stove tonight as its awful outside. Wind screaming round the house and horrible heavy sleety rain.0

Yea SarahNeedle - it is surprising how much the readings have changed since the clocks changed and the heating going on - my usage has increased by approximately £10-£12 per week. Quite scary if I had not beentaking this into account. Thankfully I am about £100 in credit and still using less than my direct debit value but it is due to turn to sleet and snow here this week so that means this might change!!!!Every days a School day!0

I'm in credit too, only by £30ish, but the monthly DD of £47 is due tomorrow, so should be ok. I just checked my usage over the last year and the daily average has increased from 14kWh to 21kWh!! That will definately be the TD then!! I think I'll try drying the clothes in front of the heater, as its going to be on anyway for the next few days, and see if that makes a difference!'We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars' - Oscar Wilde0

Heating is still off but we've had the open fire going since about 1pm today so it's toasty in the living room, and just cooked a roast dinner so also toasty in the kitchen too*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!NSD Jan 2/150

Horrific isn't it? I started using the TD 2 weeks ago when pegging out became impossible, and it's truly  how much electricity it has used. I registered with the imeasure website and put my meter readings on every week, so I can pinpoint the exact date of the changes to both gas & electric consumption - which coincides with the heating clicking on and the TD being usedSarahNeedle1872 wrote: »I've started submitting readings more regularly too... its scary to see how much electricity we get through every week! Hi all, what a rainy day today. It is getting colder outside.
In our house today we have lit the coal fire this evening and one convector fire is on upstairs. No heating on during the day as every one was out and doing other things. No CH on.If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0 -
I'm really tempted to switch the heating on today my little nose is frozen. Really fancy the kids coming home from school and having a warm bath and changing into their jammies and being comfortable. What's putting me off is I was wanting to hold out until December which is just hours away.
