With no heating on my house is 11 - 12C. Are you seriously telling me there are people in this thread sitting wrapped in blankets in those sort of temperatures rather than put the heating on? I'm all for saving a few quid but that sounds like madness to me.

    yep :D
well, my bedroom is 13c at the moment, and that's fine. I prefer a cold bedroom but lots of layers on the bed, sleeping in a heated bedroom makes me wake up feeling stuffy and horrible
My heating is set to come on if it drops below 16c - that's a comfortable temp for me
I always sit wrapped in my slanket - maybe I am odd?;)

I've had my heating on since October 1. I was going to aim for the end of October but couldn't hack it this year. However, I still have the thermo on 19 which is an improvement for me as it's normally on 20! I could lower it but my mother is visiting for a while so didn't think she'd appreciate the lower temp  As soon as she's gone I'll lower it to 18 and see how I go as I'd like to keep it as low as possible til it gets colder.

All those who can manager lower temps. I salute you!

i've had mine on a few times this month, first time because i just moved here and wanted to make sure they worked!

then twice because i had bad tendonitis and the cold was making my legs worse, twice to dry clothes (after 4 days solid rain) and twice because the cold air was really setting off my lungs (getting over a really bad infection) everytime has been on a very very low setting and only using the large storage heater in the living room. (with exception of the time i made sure they all worked)

having said that its' not too bad and it's been reasonably warm, i've not had the heat on in 5 days now and the living room/kitchen temp is around 18, the bedroom is at around 14 which suits me fine once i've prewarmed the duvet with a rice sock... the bathroom gets a bit chilly so i just don't stay in long, the shower warms it up quickly though

the other bedroom we've not been using much and it's baltic, probably around 11-12 so i think tomorrow i will turn the heater on in there on low because i don't want condensation building up.

i think downstairs must have hers on nice and high :T i paid my first months electric bill, done with a proper meter reading and it was only 37.11 and that's for 2 computers, heavy usage, telly, wii and storage heating, not bad!

it has been milder here than normal, so much so that three times today i saw flocks of birds flying south for the winter... can't ever recall seeing them doing that as late as november!

Electric heater (I don't have central heating) on for half an hour this evening when I got back, just to warm up a bit. Off otherwise.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

i think it's been milder this year normally have heating on by end of oct. We live in the north west, we've not had the heating on at all yet-partner still going to work in shorts! and kids still playing out in t-shirts! we do live in a terrace and our house is quite warm
  • we still haven't lit our fire yet as it's so mild up here at the moment. We do have a little leccy heater to warm the bathroom up when we shower every nght though. I'd like to start lighting the fire soon as the house is starting to feel damp a bit as I'm struggling to dry the washing this week

Still no heating on, did drop to 15.9 last night and we nearly cracked! Instead we put the Wii on and played tennis for an hour, didn't feel cold afterwards! Have had to crank up the water heater by 10mins a day as the shower was not too pleasant in the morning. Aiming to last out the week and put it on at the weekend.

Was brought up in a Victorian townhouse that only had an open fire downstairs (which my dad didnt light until he got home from work!), my bedroom was on the 3rd floor and it was common to wake up with ice on the inside of the window, on one occasion I think it was in winter 1981/2, a glass of water froze by my bedside! Which is why I hate heating in the bedroom.

Its not just a money thing, its a you against the elements type of thing, which is why I love camping!
