Do you think you could put a woodburner in a lean too,not a conservatory, but not an extention kind of room.It would be off a full breezeblock wall?Im sure ive seen them in log cabins so i cant see why not?
Also saw on news this time last year it was 4 degrees and this year it is 17,wow.Ace for my bills but a bit scary.

It's a constant battle in our house over whether it's on or off. It's 23 degrees in our lounge without the heating at the minute, I'd open the door but it's not worth the argument

Honestly, she can be hot one night at 21degrees, and the next night it'll be 23 and she's cold and wants the heating on. I keep telling her to get to the docs, but she thinks it's everyone else thats strange. (We once sat on Skeggy beach and while evryone else was lounging about in their swimwear she'd got her bleeding jacket on):confused:

OFF, the windows are open to let the air in and I am doing the choirs/moving around to keep warm. I will light the coal fire late afternoon though. No SC going on as we all have to watch theese bills.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.

DH insists on putting heating on in evenings, thing is I have the thermostat turned down so low it doesn't come on anyway but he hasn't noticed yet! Still hanging my washing out, doesn't quite dry but nearly there then just put over clothes horse on landing overnight then it's bone dry to put away before I go to work in morning. I always put a load on timer before I go to bed at night so it's ready to hang out in morning and then I rarely get behind with the washing....i'm so good :D Shame about rest of chores

    OFF, very mild weather.

For those of you thinking of a wood stove, check out B&Q, they have a very small solid fuel stove for £299. My friends got it and it looks really nice in their small dining room.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Still off,it's been very mild here the last few days.I was aiming for 1st November, but I might manage a bit longer if it stays mild.I'm sure I remember it being quite cold this time last year.

Same here, it's been very mild recently. I've even been kicking the duvet off the past couple of nights! So I'm hoping to make it to November!
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

  • Finally got some clear weather. Heating is still off so the mild spell is really appreciated.

This is a strange article - many Americans are having to fight for the right to line dry their clothes and are campaigning for 'right to dry' laws:

Last I heard six states had passed laws permitting people to line dry. Currently community / housing groups can prohibit line drying as it brings the neighbourhood 'down'.

Went shopping with mum early this morning and everyone was out in their shirt sleeves and summer tops - except mum, of course, she was trussed up in coat and scarf as always, but it was hard to imagine it's almost November!
