Is your heating ON or OFF?

We had it on sunday due to having mum and dad visiting for the day, they are in their 70's and really feel the cold. Switched it off when they left ( we were plenty warm enough) and it hasn't been on since. Feels warmish today but it is very damp, I've got the washing out but I don't think it will dry.MFW 1/5/08 £45,789 Cleared mortgage 1/02/13

Had the heating on for an hour when we had the recent cold snap, as my niece was visiting with her little one and I just felt I needed to take the chill off the house before she arrived. Other than that, nothing. No other form of heat, either. It's 16 degrees here and I've got the back door open for the animals, so that they can come in and out.
I was hoping to get to at least November without putting it on (which is what I did last year), and with this mild spell we're having, it looks as though I'll manage a bit longer this time.....A few more pennies saved off the gas bill :j0 -
Still off and because of very mild weather even the woodstove did not go on yesterday (but I still have a hot water bottle in the bed because I get cold feet!).
Amazingly, today DD commented about mild weather and said that we could try to go beyond 1st November - I would be ok with this but I said to her that probably DS would complain bitterly! See how it goes, though, we might be able to brave it for yet a bit longer. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Well I dont' know where you lot live but I'm in north yorks and I'm flippin' freezing!, heating is off until later this evening but I have had to relent and put it on for an hour or so.
What happened to the mild temperatures we were supposed to be having this week?Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -
I'm in North Yorkshire too but I'm still quite warm. My thermometer tells me it is 15.9 degrees in my kitchen and I can cope with extra layers so long as it is above 15. I switch on when it drops below 15 cos I feel miserable if I'm too cold.0

I'm in W Yorks and it's 12.9 degrees outside right now, and 15.1 degrees inside. I am wearing a fleece cardy and quite warm enough. It looks like getting through October without even lighting the gas fire will be achieveable
And I have just switched energy supplier too, so looking forward to saving a bit more money.

I'm sitting here in short sleeves and no heating. Only slightly nippy, I'd say bracing. I can't believe how mild it still is! :TBe careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

I had been planning on having my inset gas fire removed and a fireplace and hearth built so that I could instal a woodburner but my family seem to think this is a really bad idea. I think they like the convenience of the present system when they stay.
Your house, your decision! My family keep telling me that a woodburner will be lots of work, but you know what? It's my home, and that's what I want. They can decide what happens in their own homes.
I had the heating on a couple of times when I was tired and cold, but brought the dehumidifier in at the weekend, and it's doing a great job (hopefully it will slow down soon!). It's feeling much warmer, probably because the damp has gone. I'm not at home much, so it's a much better solution than having the heating on when I'm not around.
Yesterday the condensation was on the outside of the windows though... does that mean it's warmer out than in?0 -
Hurray for de-humidifiers. LOL at the condensation thingy."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0
