Is your heating ON or OFF?

Hi,
Well said Caterina and Olliebeak! I posted that a while ago that it was not a competetion and I do feel that people are "glowing" in their ability to survive without heating. I was beginning to be swayed - if Im honest - and was trying not to put my heating on. Im at home all day and not at all well at the moment and was thoroughly well and truly told off by my kids dad regarding the heating.situation. He had spent some time with kids over weekend - well he stayed to look after them whilst I was AWOL - and he said he felt positively unwell as the house was so cold. He is a healthy, relatively young man so he surmised that this lack of heating was probably contributing significantly to how poorly I was feeling and i think he was right. People die from hypothermia and they dont have to be old. Remember young children and ill people all find it difficult to control their temp and what might be ok for you might not be ok for your family.
Anyway my heating has been on low all week and I feel much better for it. My house is not damp and chilly and my clothes are drying without resorting to the Tumbler. So swings and round-a-bouts.
MollyI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

We've had the fire on a couple of times in the evening. We have no radiator in the living room so we pretty much never put the heating on in the evening, it's pointless. I hate cold mornings so when I am shivering on my way to the bathroom it will go on. But I'm not shivering yet.0 -
still not on here, but getting cold, don't know how much longer I can last0

Evening all
Still off here and as Caterina says - we are due for a mild weekend so no problems here hopefully.
Just bought OH a fleece blanket for his side of the bed ( married to a duvet thief)
SO far so good - might keep going after the 1st if it stays as mild as it is now

We agree we shouldn't take this too seriously - we all live in different parts of the country in different sizes and styles of houses or flats.
But we treat it as a personal challenge to ourselves to see if we can avoid turning the heating on for a few extra weeks simply to keep costs down. I can assure you if it gets really cold the heating will go on. There are 4 of us here all aged 12 and above in good health and the weather's quite mild at the moment so we'll not be turning it on for a while.Mortgage Free in 3 part 2 challenge - pay off £9000

If I was in my last place the heating would have been on by now, so I feel very fortunate to have a well insulated flat plus the weather down here has been very kind. I feel for those who are cold and if you do feel cold please put your heating on. Please don't suffer and make yourselves ill, it isn't worth it. As soon as I feel it gets too cold my heating will be on.0

I never saw this as a competition - more a mutual support thread, since everyone has the same objectives in mind.
I'm disabled and the meds I take lower my core body temperature (unfortunate side effect) plus I have Raynaud's Syndrome so I do feel the cold especially in my extremities (ooerr missus
). However I am also happy to snuggle under a fleece with a hotty bottle - rather than have everyone else sit in equatorial conditions :rotfl:.

Still off here no particular date in mind for when I'll switch it on but it's not needed at the moment.0
