  • still off here to, refuse to put it on until November. Need to save some money some how.

at least looking at this thread I'm not the only one that will refuse to put the heating on until November, all my family gave me very funny looks last weekend when I said that I would put it on till then. I have extra blankets on the bed and am still hot at night, I love a cold room.

Weezy_gal, good luck with your family, it is always a challenge to get everybody in agreement on OS things isn't it?

In my family three of us are ok with savings and OS practices, but the weakest link is our DS, who probably costs us more than the rest of us three (me, DH and DD) put together!

But we love him very much all the same, even with all his weird quirks and - although I know that when he leaves home I shall be richer in money, I shall really miss him desperately!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

I strongly recommend a good session of Wii to warm the cockles. Yesterday I was feeling a bit chilly but 2 hrs of Wii Olympics and then Wii Guitar Hero got rid of that.

Now to pick up another fleecy blanket for my son's bed to go on top of the sheet. Can anyone recommend an electric blanket for a double or are they all as good as each other?

I have a 'Silentnight' one from Argos that I got last month. It was 3 settings and I'm finding a real variation between them. Setting 1 is barely warm. I'd describe it as being like when you sit on a chair for a while. It's like what the chair feels like when you get up! :rotfl:
    (I haven't used setting 2 yet, so can't comment)
Setting 3 is the one I like to use. I put it on about 30 minutes before bed and it makes my bed very toasty. Although you just can't leave it on to sleep with as you'll absolutely cook! I did it one night and woke up about 2 hours after falling asleep feeling very uncomfortable!
I'd recommend 'Silentnight' though. It is a double, with single controls, and cost me (I think) £37.

I'm another determined to hold off until the 1st of November! I live in a small end of terraced house that I've rented since August last year. Let's just say it's in need of a bit of TLC. Don't get me wrong, it's okay, but just TERRIBLY insulated. I swear it's colder inside than out!
I'm sitting here still in my work clothes, a thick fleecy cardi over the top and a fleecy throw around my shoulders, and I'm just about comfortable enough.
I've got an electric blanket in my bed, which I think has stopped me caving to the heat - I just think of how snug I'll be later!
I have storage heaters in the house, and they are a bit useless, but I have a fan heater by my computer desk and an oil-filled radiator which I'm probably going to move upstairs in due course.
    Roll on summer!
