i admit i've caved in partially... i'm now turning on the heater in the living room every other night

i have had a really bad case of tendonitis in my knee since i moved in and without the heat on here the cold is just making me feel so much stiffer and therefore making it harder to walk/get up etc when the heat has been on it hasn't hurt as much and isn't as stiff so i caved but in a compromised manner

Sounds sensible - good that you're taking care of yourself. Hope your knee is better soon.

Mine's still off for the time being. It's still quite mild here most of the time, I don't think we've had any frosts. An extra layer of clothing and fleece pyjamas in bed seems to be doing the trick so far. I might put a fleece rug on top of mattress next time I change the bed and/or on top of my duvet.

. It's made me much more conscious that I now think if there's anything else I can use a bowl of hot water for before throwing it down the sink.....i.e even if it's just finishing the washing up then using the leftover hot water to soak stinky cat dishes.

One of the stranger memories from childhood is my Mum's habit of walking around with a bowl full of used washing up water and saying "Now, what can I use this for?"
  • Oh fitted a new pump today and we now have heat. I think he will soon turn it off again when he realises how much he is spending on gas though.

Still off, but am/was feeling a bit chilly tonight. I don't tend to get cold until about this time as i'm sitting doing nothing and it seems pointless putting it on as i'll be in bed in the next couple of hours!

I have slipper socks on (they have penguins on, i'm such a child) a jumper and just wrapped my fleece round me and had a cup of tea and i'm nice and toasty...for now.

  • Still not on here. Our central heating fired by wood burning stove, and we haven't got much wood - saving it for when we really need it. Trying to hold out to November. Also we have a thermometer and have a rule of no fire unless 16 or lower!

I strongly recommend a good session of Wii to warm the cockles. Yesterday I was feeling a bit chilly but 2 hrs of Wii Olympics and then Wii Guitar Hero got rid of that.

Now to pick up another fleecy blanket for my son's bed to go on top of the sheet. Can anyone recommend an electric blanket for a double or are they all as good as each other?

    Hello All

Still off here - although for the first time this morning i had to scrape ice off the car. OH still not complaining about the cold so we are persevering.

Is it just me - this is our first year attempting to get to November 1st before the heating goes on, I keep checking the calender and before long i am sure i will be counting down the days!

We are not feeling the cold yet - so i am sure its just a psychological thing - like when as soon as you are on a diet you want to eat chocolate, as soon as you say you are going to keep the heat off until 1st November - you get a little obsessed with how many days to go.
