we haven'y had ours on at all yet, if it gets chilly we put a jumper on or get a blanket to put over our feet.0

Still off here in Normandy ... I wore a jumper to bed last night (attractive!) and both my kids 3 and 4 woke in the early hours so I guess we won't be able to hold out too much longer ... I was hoping to last until November though.
We've got underfloor heating so I'm looking forward to the big switch on!Bon App's Scraps!MFb40 # 130 -
We have recently had a boiler installed that has a thermostat thing that switches the heating on when it dips below 20%c So the heating comes on when the thermostat decides that the house is cold, sadly not when I feel cold :-( Which I often do. So as you can imagine, I don't always agree with the thermostat lol. Wearing woolies a lot more than I used to :-)A work in progress0

No heating on as yet but there is definitely a chill in the air. I just love going to bed on these colder nights.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I would've thought that the thermostat can be turned down to whatever temp you want?0 -
OK, we've cracked! We now have some heating on. I am reading the gas & electricity meters every week and was amazed how much difference I could see in this week's reading just after basically having 3 'economy 7' storage heaters on for one day as well as 3 smaller heaters downstairs just when we were in those rooms and felt we needed them on. Did some rough calculations though and I still think that Npower will have to reduce our payments if we keep on being careful. Hope so. Going to carry on taking the readings as it really focusses me on what we are using. I think my partner has even stopped his 'bath top-ups' of which there used to be 2 or 3 each time, because we had a look at how the gas dials whizzed round when we ran some hot water. It's made me much more conscious that I now think if there's anything else I can use a bowl of hot water for before throwing it down the sink.....i.e even if it's just finishing the washing up then using the leftover hot water to soak stinky cat dishes.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

We've cracked too this weekend... frosty nights are too much for me! Just got the one storage heater in the living room on low, but it's enough to take the bite off in the mornings. Hoping not to put bedroom (wall panel) heaters on until next month at least, and kitchen storage heater not until Dec/Jan.0

Do you have curtains up at your windows? If so, are they thick ones? It will not fix the problem completely, but if you can get some heavy curtains (e.g. velvet ones or lined ones), maybe from a charity shop, and keep them closed at night, that will certanly help keep the draughts out and will help with your fuel bills and keeping a bit warmer.
Also, if you've got really big gaps around the frame you could try packing them out with strips of newspaper to stop the draughts.
Then go and camp out on your housing authority's doorstep until they come and fix it!
hi i dont have curtans up at that window and the ones i do have livingroom bedroom exc are just thin ones. ill have a look around the local charitay shops and maybe ebay. im also getting my carpets deliverd next week so i think that will hold of the heating a bit longer.0 -
I have actually managed to put my heating back off. I switched it on at the start of this month but it's been so sunny the last few days that the house has warmed up nicely through the day and the nights have been quite mild. My kids are now off until 21st October, so no early rises on chilly mornings. I am therefore going to try to keep the heating off until they go back to school, if possible.Mortgage Free in 3-T2 : Started at £151,000 Nov. 2009 Mortgage Free Oct 1st 2015
