ON here - it is freezing ( slight exagerattion perhaps) - all the windows were steamed up this morning - Been wearing my fleece about the house for the last few weeks , may need to dig out the fingerless gloves and the knitted bunnet over the weekend though!! Had it on for an hour or so at night but keeping an eye on my gadget thing that tell me how much it is costing. Think I may have to start putting in on for a wee half hour in the morning too soon. I am in the West of Scotland. Think 2 DS may need winter jackets for school soon too.
No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

  • Off & will be for ages yet. We never have it on during the day (don't have young children though) & we didn't have the gas fire on at all last year. Not sure if we're tight or hard :D:rotfl:
Now thanks to Tommix & Queen Bear, now Lady Westy of Woodpecker :)
  • Off - way way too warm down here, (South Devon) even though the nights are cooler than they have been. Last year we decided 1st November would be the date but in fact managed to hold out til much later than that.

We have nice fleecy knee rugs, full length curtains and I find if I put a couple of scented candles on and close the doors, the lounge, despite its size soon warms up.

However, nothing is set in stone so if we did suddenly get a cold snap, I wouldn't worry about putting the heating on!

Off! and will stay that way until 1st November! I don't have any double glazing but find a fleecy throw on the sofa keeps me warm!

Ours will certainly go on before then (it isn't on yet). Sorry, but in Autumn and Winter it gets cold, that's why we heat our houses:confused:

I don't understand why anyone sets a date, I put it on when it's cold and turn it off when it isn't. What happens if there's a couple of warm days in december - keep it on because of the date?

I set a date one year then got cold 'too early' and realise how stupid I was being :p

I thought it was obvious, but ...
It's about saving money. By making sure it really is cold (and not just a bit chilly) before putting the heating on, you think about what you are doing (and spending). Too many people just bung it on automatically, without trying an extra layer of clothing first. It's a waste of cash and also bad for the planet.
And obviously, if the temperature rises, I'm sure MSEs would all turn the heating down or off at the first opportunity - this site's about saving money, you see? :p
