Ours is off in the evenings but i've had to give in and put it on for an hour in the morning before getting out of bed :o I just can't get out of bed into the cold and it's a million times worse when you get out of the shower too!

Considering our heating normally goes on at the beginning of September i'm really proud of us so far. We've been snuggling up under fleeces and adding extra layer - something I wouldn't have done before.

Determined not to put it on in the evenings till it gets REALLY cold. November would be great. We have plenty of wood for the fire after a tree was felled outside my bosses house and they had it chopped up and wanted rid. We put the back seats down in the car and filled the boot :D The fire doesn't give out too much heat though - it's more a decorative thing.

I will NOT get a gas & electric bill in the Nov-Jan 1/4 of £600 like last year!!!

Same here. Vaguely chilly outside but ok indoors, and I have a generally cool flat as it faces north. But, nothing that a sweater and thin socks can't sort, for the time being.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

Still not on in my flat!
Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

Still off here, though mainly because of our ridiculous gas bills from last winter. We do have quite a cold flat as we are at the top of a valley. At present though I'm wearing a t-shirt and no socks so not cold enough yet for heating.

Its off. It is still far too warm. We face south at the back and the sun warms us up all day and the house retains the heat because I close the windows late afternoon

Still off here! Aiming for a 'switch-on' of 1st November IF we can hold out till then. Gave in around 29th October last year as it turned bitter then (warmed up again about a week later) but once it's on then that's IT!

However when it IS on it's for 7am-9am and then 7pm-11pm in the living room and kitchen/diner at 21deg. Don't have any upstairs rads on at all as we're open-plan downstairs and most of the heat just goes straight up there anyway! WHEN we have visitors, I will turn the rads on in the living room just before they arrive - wouldn't dream of having anybody feeling cold in my home :).

Haven't even thought of needing it yet - it's still very mild.

The block of flats I live in had cavity wall insulation done this summer and I'm wondering if it will make any difference when it does start to get cold?

I've no intention of making myself miserable though - the heating'll be on when I feel cold. Scottish Power altready have £200+ of my money held ransom (they insist being £200-300 in credit is *normal*?!) so it's about time I used it :D

Rubbish! Phone scottish Power and tell them you want YOUR money back. I got a refund of about £900 from them this year (they were charging me full standard rate for three years after I had a economy seven meter fitted!!)

They cannot refuse to refund you as long as you are up to date on your bills...... Cheeky wotsits

Mine's still off and I'm hoping to keep it that way until November. Mind you my living room is 18C at the moment so I don't need it.

I actually found it chillier a few weeks back. I just snuggled up with my Ikea fleece throws. The only problem when it's chilly is I find my fingers get very cold and I can't tuck my hands in as I'm usually working away on the laptop.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

  • Its still of here too. Although I have heat from both sides and below and so I can get away with it. When we cook, it adds heat to the place and, for now at least, thats enough.
