Wish we had heating to turn on !! Only got a log burner in the lounge - and thats it! OH has still to sweep the chimney yet before we can even think of lighting it. Hoping to hold out until 1st November :D.

Still warm here in Essex been having lovely warm days although the nights are a little colder. Not even thought about turning the heating on. Will wait as long a possible.

Still off here too. Told DH we'll wait until at least November 1st and he just laughed at me. I'll put it on when it gets cold, its currently 19 degrees according to my thermostat. I've started putting a jumper on but I refuse to put the heating on until it gets down to about 17 or the dog starts shivering (he's has thin fur ). I'm hoping that we can hold out to at least mid Oct (or even beginning of Nov) but I'm realistic. No amount of money saved is worth being cold, I'm sorry but for me its not. I went two winters without heating a few years ago because I was too mean to pay for the central heating to be unblocked and I've had my fill of being cold.

I hate being cold but I have been wearing a few layers to keep the cold out and have managed ok so far this year. Think I may have to crack soon though.

  • Off at the moment, but nights getting colder, so might be going on soon. At the moment the weather is quite warm outside, and it feels colder in the house than out. But managing ok with hwb and thin fleece blanket to keep me warm at night.

Heating off here, still sleeping with summer quilt, windows wide open and fan on, can't stand hot bedroom lol, which amazes me as years ago had to have heating on in bedroom.Think its because gone into loft conversion with no heating up there.

    Still off here

Not many advantages so far that I've found to being in the menopause, but feeling hot all the damn time (and this being boosted with hot flushes), is one of them! No desire at all to have the heating on at home. I'm the one sitting in the office with a desk fan pointed straight at my face all the time, while everyone else is coming in wearing layers!

That said, the family haven't grumbled about feeling cold either, so there's been no pressure on me to give in. I'm sitting in a t-shirt at home as it is. I don't want to have to try peeling any more layers off.

I think I'll end up with a cold water bottle while the other have their hot water bottles!

OFF OFF OFF, definitely off for as long as possible, I like the idea of the thermal vest, I've seen nice cheap ones somewhere I'll have to try and remember where.

  • Nope, and we won't be putting it on at all.
I agree with the latter in the fact it is cold, but we have plenty of jumpers and blankets.
