So glad this thread has made it back on my list as Ive been get very antsy about the heating being on atm.

I have elderly parents living here and a huge house which does take some heating. The cold spell we had had both me and hubby feeling the cold - even under fleeces so I had to give in and turn up the thermostat, Parents have solid burner in their sitting room and the evening temp in there is around 24 - rest of the house I try to keep around 16-18

Just been down and turned it back down and have shaved an hour off the time its on. Cos of the olds I cant let the house cool down too much the heating comes on very couple of hours for an hour during the day and is on between 5 and 10pm at night atm. I've just reduced it all to 45 mins and will take an hour off the evening heating slowly over the week.

Hopefully come May we will have the heating off altogether. Me and Hubby are ok but the olds just dont see why they should put layers on and use lap rugs at night when sat watching tv. Theres no telling them and its just not worth the distress. I go to MIL and shes sat there with at least 4 layers on and loves that We bought her a hottie and a fleece for christmas
  • mine is still on but unlike a few weeks ago i am turning it off all night and for a few hours in the day, much improvement!
i was still in a considerable amount of credit so am not looking forward to building it up again for next winter...i think by april heating will pretty much be off.

Can't wait for the nicer weather so I can get washing back outside on the line, instead of in the house. Heating is off at the moment as OH is not well and finding the house boiling. Normally he complains its freezing (yet walks around in shorts!).

Our heating never gets switched off - we just adjust the thermostat - it's currently set at 16 -

    16:eek:

I feel the cold when it goes below 23 in the house (DH & DD do moan about me though:rolleyes: ).

I have a digital one on the wall & even 21 feels cold to me & I KNOW thats susposed to be the ideal temp:o

    So mine is still on:o

Ours is still on, on low. It's not good enough weather to get washing dry yet - as soon as it is, it goes off. We're plenty warm enough!

I gave in at Lunch time and put the heating on I work evenings so It'll be off again before I start work at 6, as no point heating an empty house!

Meh. Showoff! It's still damp here. Not that I've done any washing today (see confessions of a tired oldstyler thread :o )

I wonder if the dog is going to use my rotary airer as a fairground ride this year. Amount of stuff I had to wash twice!

I don't feel the cold at all but the b/f does, so we have the heating on a couple of hours a day for him (generally for early morning starts and then around 8pm (after the heat from cooking has worn off.
Only problem is, I have Reynauds and in one of my feet all of my toes go numb every so often, they just turn pure white with no feling - I can be sitting there in a teeshirt but have 5 socks on one foot! rofl
Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it... :o

Washing on the line for me but not really getting that dry as v.cloudy. No heating on today and yesterday evening i forgot it was on and walked into a boiling hot kitchen as it went off! Whoops!! Rad thermo is now turned back down to were it was before the cold snap

Programmer altered to MAN OFF for this mild spell.

How strange to have such a cold spell and now no heating on?
