  • My thermostat is set on 10 degrees and yesterday the heating didn't come on for the first time this year. It felt pretty warm until late evening too.

On for half hour in the morning and then off for the rest of the day.... atm... we tend to adjust ours depending on the weather and how warm the house is rather than have it set for fixed times.

I'm just the opposite :j I live in an old house, which is never warm all over during the winter, and love camping, so hate it when it's too hot

In my office yesterday everyone was wandering about in t-shirts complaining that it was cold, so insisted on having the heating on. By the afternoon, it was so muggy I had a terrible headache, and couldn't concentrate.

It all disappeared on my 8-mile cycle home in the rain :j :T

On timed. Central heating is off in the day, even if we are there, unless it gets really cold. Half of downstairs is on underfloor heating, so that is on, but thermostat set much lower for the day. We always hope for sunshine, as it's south facing and makes it lovely and warm for free!

  • I have to say that my heating is on but only if we are really cold, I do put on a hoodie and dress the kids in warm tops etc.

Ours is on low at the moment. Bit gutted that I had to refill the oil tank already but in my defence we haven't used any gas or my electric oven all winter as I've been using Stanley (like an Aga) for all my cooking as well. He's been on since November as I think the amount of oil I'd use heating the big lump of cast iron up each day would be silly.

well I ventured down into the scary cellar this morning (eeep!) - after a lot of banging and singing to myself I read the meters and it looks like Gas should be OK but the electric?? I give up! xboxes, 1 PC, 3 laptops, and OHs habit of turning all possible lights on means it will be big! Eurgh! Nay mind! I'm hoping for Gas and Electric for the quarter to be around £450. It SHOULD be less but we can afford £150 for each so that's the highest figure! I work on the basis taht if I budget at that, I can always use the left over for something (like getting my eyes tested!)

  • Heater was off all day yesterday and was fine. Washing's on the line and I'm typing with crossed fingers.

Electric meter's being changed today so will probably have the heating off today too. Whenever I do this I seem to end up paying the same amount. How do they do that? :)

Heating is currently on in the mornings and evenings, but leave it off for the rest of the time. My little girl keeps waking up at 6.30am because of the cold. Have the heating on and she stays asleep for a bit longer. Worth more than gold that.

However, I am slowly turning the thermostat down. Am hoping I'll be able to turn it off in the not too distant future.
