I didn't have it on yesterday as I thought it was quite warm. It has come on again now though it is still 9 degees. When it gets to 11 we will all be in t shirts. I have ogt a bit hardier since the oh has been out of work and I am paying for it.lol.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Mine has been off for a few days. mind you i am surrounded by other flats and i have really big windows so I get all the afternoon sun. Actually have one window open slightly as its a bit too warm. If it gets chilly I put the radiator on but the flat warms up super quickly and I normally turn it off within an hour.0

Funnily enough I changed the settings on the timer this week. We now have 40 mins in the mornings and an hour at night. If the temperature does drop again I may put it on a little more but hopefully it's all downhill from here and can be reduced again in two weeks and switched off until october two weeks after that!
We have a draughty old terrace but have made loads of really thick lined curtains and big fat draught excluders so been reasonably warm this winter!!Debt busting! Jan 2014 £7632.50 £7445.80

I live in a one-bed top-floor flat (four rooms: kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room). All this winter the only radiator we've turned on is the one in living room, on I think 3 weekday evenings (for about 3 hours, maybe) and 3 weekend days (probably for about 5 hours each time). Other than that, we have an electric blanket on the bed and sometimes give the bathroom a blast with the fan heater in there for about 5mins before having a shower to take the edge off. OH and I just sit in jumpers with blankets over us most of the time!0

I'm glad yous are here to make me think of these things! Heating now off, only on a demand basis. Jumper and fluffy socks and a nice blanket!
i do boil the kettle quite a lot for my hot water bottle. I must look up and see how much that costsA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Ours in on 'On Demand' also, to be honest has been all winter, I dont feel the cold especially (none of us do), my motto is put on a jumper and have a cup of tea if you're cold!
During the cold spell last few weeks I've had it on a timer for an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening, still got it on the timer for the morning but is on the lowest setting now, had it on low for the past hour and the place is lovely and warm now.

Our heating never gets switched off - we just adjust the thermostat - it's currently set at 16 - the heating isn't on now - but it came on this morning.
We have thermostats on all the radiators in the house except the living room - in the bedrooms they are turned right down.
We have a big house and it gets very cold, we wear jumpers etc, - needless to say the heating bills are high - not as high as the poster with the oil heating though.
Our last bill was high and that's not usually our highest bill - it's the coming one.
I am normally not too bad with the cold - but this winter for some reason I have really felt it. I have been cold at home and at work - roll on spring0 -
Ridiculous as it sounds this one keeps a lot of heat in.
Tuck trackies or pjs into big bed socks. Looks ridiculous but stops the bottom of the trouser draft!A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men
