try 18 :) if you find it cold - turn it up to 19 :) I find when it drops below 10 outside I sometimes have to "boost" it a little tho :) (and I have to work hard at keeping OH who's terrible away from the thermostat... grrr - wonder if he's realised I've turned most of the radiators off at the moment hehe)

I set mine to 18 for getting up and then turn down to 16 during the day when I'm getting through my jobs (it has to be V.cold to keep the heating on all day). In the evening I crank it up to a tropical 20 for sitting about.

Being hot has got to be the upside of the menopause. I`ve had to take my jumper off while sorting out the bedroom. I think I central heat the house sometimes

I got a massive airer from lakeland the other day and dried 3 full loads on it. It took all night and was ready to iron by noon as the sun was blazing in. It really is huge but folds up small enough to store neatly on the landing. I`m going to weather watch for washing as I have to dry everything indoors and do not want to turn the heating on specially but it`s a nice feeling to have everything ironed and put away within 20 hours from start

Being active is warming but I do have the fleece blankets ready in the lounge for the evenings
  • ooooooooh noooooooo!!!

central heating isnt going on just yet!
i make sure kids have their socks and slippers on, and if they feel cold then tell them to put a jumper on. like kittie, i have fleecy blankets for morning/evening too :D

Same here, lots of fleecy blankets are now in the living room for cuddling up in, and the hot water bottles and wheat bags are all out!! I am trying so hard not to put it on yet, but it was freezing when i got up for the bathroom in the night!!
Just keep thinking about that gas bill, that keeps me going!!

  • Heating not on, cos it doesn't work. 15 month old boiler has packed in (not very happy at all. Mr Cupier positively incandescent, but I can't bottle that heat, can I?).

Man coming to fix it tomorrow, probably in time for all to warm up again and it not to be necessary.....

I'd like to stay off the heating til November, but kids are 1, 3 and 5 and the oldest gets cold really easily (almost no fat on him!). We're already into winter duvets (autumn and summer together), extra blankets, vests, thick socks - can't do much more without making them into Michelin men. Full gloves and hats rig for school this morning!

I've admitted defeat and have timed mine to come on for when I get home from work today.

It'll also be timed to be on in the mornings, but only for 30mins until the weather gets really really cold and then it'll be on for longer.

Am off on holiday in November, so am looking forward to the savings when I switch it off for two whole weeks :rotfl:
