Had it on for an hour at the weekend - clothes were caught in the rain before i could get them inside.
Not had it on since then, but have switched to long sleeves today & will put on Autumn quilt later as OH stole it all in the night.
Edited to add:
Also since working from home the pc warms up the front room just enough after a couple of hoursStill wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0 -

I know what you mean, our HA house is made of concrete, walls and floors(upstairs and down) we are lucky that we have good insulation(just had new loft insulation) cavity wall insulation and double glazing so its warm when the heatings on but not too good when its off!Do what you love :happyhear0 -

We're awaiting some new loft insulation, and do have double glazing, but the storage heating is next to useless. I'm going to see if I can manage by having the kiddies storage heater on only, and rely on the open fire to keep the rest of the house warm. I can't face the bill when all the storage heaters are on:eek:0 -
We have a coal fire so we're going to use that for a bit before using the CH as its so expensive to use and we have a tiny radiator in our room thats useless anyway!:rolleyes:Do what you love :happyhear0

I had it on for about 30 minutes before I went to bed last night but mainly for a backlog of washing I was finding it hard to get dry.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Managed to get away with not putting the heating on have Blankets on the Settee's instead, puupy is very displeased at us closing the back door to keep ourselves warm he's a double coated breed so doesn't really feel the cold. This will be the 1st winter since we got rid of the tiled floor in the bathroom and replaced it with carpet tiles its so much nicer not having to walk on a freezing cold floor every morning0

No,I haven't put mine on yet,I am hoping to hold out until the end of October.
I don't really feel the cold too much, hot flushes and all lol, although it has definitely been cooler here the last couple of days.It seemed very chilly as I leapt out of the shower this morning and I have changed to my winter dressing gown now, although I still have the summer duvet on,I can't bear being too hot in bed.
Besides,I am too tight to put the heating on yet, cold or otherwise,so I just put an extra layer of clothes on.
I grew up in an old, draughty farmhouse with no central heating. How well I remember waking up in the morning to find snow on the inside of the bedroom window and wearing 3 layers of clothes in bed.My Mum used to light a little paraffin stove in my bedroom every morning to get dressed by and warm my clothes.
My brother and I used to huddle by the Aga in the kitchen,it was the only warm room in the house.0 -
I am about to give in a put the heating on as it is really cold here today! I will set the thermostat at 20 but TBH I don't know what to set it at really, as my system is a new one and my old system didn't have a thermostat - just a high and low switch. What is the best temp to set it at for optimum gas usage?Jane
