Is your heating ON or OFF?

You know what I did notice that when I go to my friends houses and they have their heating on how hot it is. I was in my friends house on Monday and she had her heating on, I ended up sweating while sitting there. I also have found myself asking friends, when they comes to my house, whether they are warm enough as our heating is either on low or not on at all depending on how cold it is outside. I do tend to have the house between 19 and 20 deg, thankfully I can keep tabs on it with our little weather thingy
Last year we hardly put the heating on during the day, although I don't know what will happen if it snows this year. But its amazing how warm and cosy you can feel under a fleecy blanket on the sofaMortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

Hello Raspberry Swirl
I too am in Basingstoke. Last night I had to give in and put the heating on....
BUT
I should point out that it was at about 8.30pm and we had been stood out in the snow for about half an hour lol so I think we deserved it.
This morning it took DH about 20 minutes to de-ice the car. The snow on the roads had gone really crunchy and my washing line had icicles on it. The children are still in bed and I haven`t got the heating on. Will wait till they get up. If they`re cold when fully and appropriately dressed then I`ll put it on again.0 -
Had snow and sleet last night and frost this morning, so the heating on for a hour while we got up as we wanted to dry the condensation which was streaming down the inside of the windows through having all the curtains drawn against the cold, (despite double glazing). Sun now shining so the heating has now been switched off again.0

One-up-man-ship yet again. It's really boring! I posted about the heating requirements in the UK.
Should I tell you about the time my DH was posted in the Falkland Islands during the war, in the winter?
I edited this post because I realised I was doing a "one-up-man-ship". Who cares how cold anyone's husband is at work (other than his wife)? I like it when my hubby is warm - I wouldn't boast about him being cold.
Julie
I wasn't boasting. I was just having a laugh.0 -
I know Jackie, I was laughing. I was trying to think up one of those daft jokes like "when we were wee it got so cold that..." but its too early for me to think !0

Crashed and burned :rotfl:
Put the heating on for 3 hours yesterday evening. It was 12.5C in my living room an hour after I lit the log burner and I was so cold.
Have to say it was bliss and I did get some washing dry on the radiators.
It's back off this morning even though there is a pretty hard frost.0 -
Got up and it was 0.2c outside, and 17c inside.:eek:
Got the CH on with a throw around me - I've told myself the CH goes off when it hits 20c.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -
My ohs coming home from italy today ( and no im not boasting before someone has a go
)Im probably going to have to keep and eye on him so he doesnt put heating all the time.

On the morning news they said that it is the first time since 1934 that the London area has had snow in October!
DD phoned on her way to work this morning to say it had snowed heavily last night, in Hampshire, where she lives. She got off the train at 10 last night and had to get a cab home. She's only a few roads away from the station!

You can hardly call it one-up-man-ship it's just chat,Like you talk to your'e friends which is what we on OS do.
I can't see how you can accuse people of one-up-man-ship when they're giving each other support to get them through not being able to afford to heat their homes properly, and believe it or not a a lot of us can't.
There's enough negativity in the world, lets keep here free of it.0
