I've only got another couple of days til the end of the month but am beginning to feel it now. This evening is, as sillyvixen says, horribly cold rain, and almost blowing a gale.

Daisymac I'm in Beds, next county over, I hope the snow doesn't get this far  . Just phoned my Mum in S Oxon and she's got heavy snow too, miserable for you all this early in the year. Worst case scenario if it turns to snow I'll definitely put the ch on and if I can't pay the bill they can't exactly hang me can they?

    Unles you know different....:rotfl:

We have put the heating on but after a fright with our gas supplier putting our direct debit up to a ridiculous amount for the tiny flat we live in I am going to sit here and freeze wherever possible because we just can't afford it otherwise!

Of course I might take a leaf out of Caterina's book and get myself some stylish headwear :D - I believe a large percentage of body heat is lost through the head

It was snowing here in West London about an hour ago!

So cold, I put on the heater for 15 minutes then off for half an hour then on again for 15 minutes - and drinking hot water with lemon in it. Warm as toast now. :D
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

    wish I had snow,

My heating is on but only because the thermometer confirmed my thoughts...its bl**dy freezing...it said 12:eek: as I walked in tonight.

My adult son who has his own flat near us, noticed this thread whilst he was using my computer,
"well" he said "if a load of middle aged jam makers can hold off til 1st November so can I"!!!!

I threatened to withhold his meals on wheels service I provide!!
and informed him that we were all ages and many of us, me included, cant make jam :p but I did have to laugh, cheeky sod....but he hasn't put it on yet and is sitting at home with his hat and jacket still on from earlier.
His friends think he's mad but its got him thinking about looking after his small student income.;)

In the winter, if my husband is at work and he goes outside, the hair up his nostrils freeze after 10 minutes. :D He works on the Sea of Okhotsk and he could walk over the sea to the rig (he doesn't btw lol). He might be off to Siberia next. I don't think there's a minimum heating requirement there. :rotfl:

One-up-man-ship yet again. It's really boring! I posted about the heating requirements in the UK.

Should I tell you about the time my DH was posted in the Falkland Islands during the war, in the winter?

I edited this post because I realised I was doing a "one-up-man-ship". Who cares how cold anyone's husband is at work (other than his wife)? I like it when my hubby is warm - I wouldn't boast about him being cold.

We did turn the heating back off the other day, after it only being on for an hour, I got too hot. Afraid I have got the one radiator on 2.5 downstairs. Not bad considering my temperature thingy is reading 0.2deg outside at the moment, and they are threatening a cold snap here in "sunny" Kent!!. Also I have gone down with some throat/cough/sniffles infection so am trying to keep warm. But I did have a brainwave the other day, if I get cold I can always do a few minutes of WiiFit, tidying up/hoovering, or baking!!
