  • Still haven't put the CH on yet, though with the weather predictions for the next few days I may well cave in! Though down here in the south doesn't usually get as cold as the rest of the country....luckily!

It was the snow that finally made me put the heating on. This afternoon we had a flurry of snow, I had 3 layers on (top one body warmer) and decided the heating had to go on. My feet are still cold though.

If it warms up I'll be switching it off.

Well Done to those still holding out for 1st November and beyond.

I'm not far from you, and apparently it's going to snow tonight, so wrap up warm!

When we got married, my bridesmaid was half Italian, does that count? :D Believe me if I was Italian I'd beg to be repatriated, so long as it's somewhere warm:rotfl:.

My daughter phoned home from London today and she says it is freezing there to, so I don't think the North/South divide is quite as marked as it was. She actually said that she'd had one of those Lindt chocolates (the ones with the liquid centres) and it was so cold in the house that the centre wasn't liquid any more .

What was it they used to say at the end of Hill Street Blues? "Let's be careful out there" :D although if it gets any colder we'll be saying: "Don't have nightmares".

Got my hot water bottle filled up, ready for Eastenders.

Despite having the heating on from 8am-12:30pm today, it's not going on tonight.

OK...we had to put the CH on 20 minutes ago. The snow has made hubby worry for the pipes, as it's settled very thickly.

Hubby reminded me that last year the water in the washing machine pipes froze after a cold snap because the house got too cold. He fixed me a 'steely glare' and turned the heating on at the boiler.

The oldest cat assumed her usual winter position on the living room radiator within about 3 minutes.

!!!!!! this snow. We'd have made it no problem through to 1st without it. He's promised that once it fires up and he's checked to make sure everything is fine he'll turn it off again.

All I can smell at the moment is the dust burning on the radiators...something else to clean this weekend!

Still got my heating off, and it's 19.3c in the house. Just put the oven on for my tea, so it might warm up a little.

Quick tip: If you need to cook a tin of beans while something's in the oven, why not take the top off the tin and put it on the bottom or middle shelf?
