on, the pellet stove only fires up when needed and did less than an hour at 5. Came down to a cosy 20. Staying on0

Still off here. I wish i had an open fire, or a wood burning stove!0

Remains firmly OFF here, but the house is only 8 years old and seems to be fairly well insulated for it. Can certainly tell the difference between outside temp and inside temps!
I'm still in the "well, put another layer on if you're THAT cold for goodness sake!!??" phase..... :rotfl:0 -
Loving the 2 hours on in the morning and 3 hours in the evening, it is a total luxury for us to have a heated house in October! But the students pay for comfort as well as bed and board so we don't begrudge the expense at all. Half the radiators in the house are off anyway, only kitchen, bathrooms and the girls room rads are on. Enough to feel nice and warm, for me.
We only put on the woostove if we go into the living room for an hour +, otherwise it's not worth the effort. When the stove is on I boil a kettle on it and sometimes cook lentils for next day dinner, or when we go to bed I leave porridge oats in boiling water on the warm stove. Then in the morning we only need to give them a quick reheating. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

I did have GC heating on for an hour when I got up this morning , and I did put it on at tea time for an hour , I will light my open fire probaly first week of November until next March ish , ive got piles of wood and coal ... I do light the fire of a night instead of having the GC heating on because im only using one room of a night and its pointless heating the whole of the house .....My motto is " one life live it ".....:)0

Not on yet as the oil fired cooker in the kitchen filters around the house. I am occasionally putting the electric heater on in the sitting room and sitting directly in front of it for a few minutes whilst watching television.
Otherwise I am just adding a layer of clothing as necessary. It hasn't felt cold enough to light the fire yet, although it is noticeably chillier this evening. Luckily I like a cold bedroom so would never have heating on at night.0
