Ours goes on as and when necessary. i.e. When my wife feels cold.

    Happy wife, happy life.

Heating first went on a few days ago - OH at home all day and temperature has dropped here. Obviously extra layers and cosy slippers went on first! We just put it on as and when, not on regularly yet. Went on in November last year but visitors staying next week so it will definitely be on if they need it.

I put the heating on for a few hours today to check all is working. That will be it until it gets colder, God bless hot flushes!

It's still off here in London, though definitely noticing my old house is chillier than usual this morning. It just means I've put on a long sleeved t shirt and a thick fleece jumper. And I've got the slow cooker on as I find that warms up the kitchen quite well and the beef stew will warm me up well later on.

I put the heating on last night for an hour to make sure it still works okay; we have a very old boiler! On again for an hour this morning as a concession to our son who has been complaining that his bedroom is far too cold.

From now on it will probably go on from 5.30am until 7am Monday to Friday just to warm the house, as we all have to get up early. There will only be 4 radiators on though.

When we finally light the woodstove the backboiler will take care of the heating. I am so glad that the previous houseowner had the foresight to install a backboiler, especially as it works even in a powercut.

Hope you are all staying warm enough. I would love to have held out until at least November, however I am not the only person living in the house and have to bow to the pressure of the chillier mortals!

Still on in the morning for an hour to take the chill off the bathroom but I've not needed to have it on for the past few evenings as the house is so well insulated, and my new furry bootee slippers are keeping my feet toasty. Strangely, if my feet are warm so is the rest of me :)

We rarely bother with it in the morning during as we are up and out in around half an hour so there is hardly any point.
  • Have had it on couple of times this month, +13C was just too cold to sit in (north side of the house), currently off, off to toasty bed with mattress heater on :)

Just back from a week away and the house was very cold so I put the heating on for four hours. Turned it back to its usual settings before I went to bed and this morning the house feels toasty so it's been off today.

Ours is left on it's four period weekday/weekend settings all year round, so kicks in when the temperature drops below it's settings.

The programmer/thermostat is in the living room ,where we use the gas fire on cool days, but for the last couple of weeks the radiators have heated up first thing and some evenings.

I have a medical condition which makes me very uncomfortable if the temperature drops below a certain level and I'm not active (ie evenings and early mornings) .
