I am off to go and make some home made bread now, the heat from that will keep me warm! This is what I like about this time of year, the baking! It isn't quite the same, baking bread in the summer!

I would have it on but the boiler broke at the weekend, I can get it to run for about 10 mins every 2 hours then cut cuts out, that is just about keeping the chill off, the throw and fan heater are coming out this evening. Should be fixed tomorrow.

The problem with baking to keep warm is that I then eat it all!

    Hung up my suit!
I'm holding out as I only have my own discomfort to worry about. Two pairs of long-johns and shirt and thick jumper and socks works well for me. Off to warmer climes in six weeks so not too long to hold out. :D

Three duvets on the bed btw !!

Heating remains off but I have lit the coal fire in living room just now ready to warm house up a bit for this evening as it's cold, wet and very windy here (South Coast) plus we all have streaming colds.

And yes, have got thick jumpers and socks on too!

I only changed our bed at the weekend so may use hot water bottle tonight but putting winter duvet back on when I change the bed next weekend is now a definite plan!

Hope everyone else is doing Ok. x

  • Not yet, but I did run it for an hour or so yesterday to check it still worked before we really need it!

The 4.5 tog duvet is still on the bed however, as it is all year round. I hate being too hot in bed but the HW bottle goes in when it's nippy. Might have to invest in another one though, just one in the middle doesn't really help and we fight over it's location!
  • We don't have central heating here, but we did light the log burner on Sunday afternoon. The house seems lovely and toasty at the moment. OH still has his fan on and our bedroom window is still wide open (i did have to shut it with all the rain this morning though!)

Lol.........has it got lots of bedding in? If you throw some more bedding in it will be ok for now....unless it's in a porch or conservatory that is really cold. When I had one as a kid I put a sweater over the cage thinking it would keep him warmer......overnight the little cutie pulled entire jumper through bars and shreaded it into the most amazing fantastic bed....lol. must have taken him all night to do it..!!

My cat is not amused now it has suddenly gone colder. House was ruddy freezing in the morning when I got in from night shift so put it on for half an hour. Still only have towel rail and 1 radiator switched on. Went into dining room today for some paperwork....and it was pppretty cold in there.

I'm off to bed soon as have a very busy day tomorrow. Hot water bottles have been in there for the last hour, and I have put the heating on for now at temp 16 so it clicks in occasionally. Windows still open though as I can't abide them shut. Just shut back door which would normally be open until around 10, cat has refused to go outside but it is very windy too.....she is such a wuss.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.
