Haven't had anything on yet here in the Fens, but I did black-lead the woodburner yesterday after having the chimney swept - we are getting ready to cosy up and light it in the evenings as autumn comes in.December GC: £3500

Got to admit, I was tempted to put it on this morning!
But put my fleece jumper and fluffy slippers on instead! Its definitely colder here today.0 -
Quite cold here in Yorkshire. Just had the CH on for an hour, to take the chill off and to check that everything is working OK. Going to have to watch huby though, as he just whacks the thermostat up. I came downstairs and set it to 160

With a nose on the weather I knew it was going to be a real feel of 1 degree last night. I opened the living room radiator to allow the water go to that one only at 6am when the water was heating for 30 minutes.
The result means we awoke to a normal temperature of house. We still have our pyjamas and socks on and would be chilly without.
A slow process putting the heating on with a close eye on temperatures and real feels. I will adjust the radiators nightly to reflect those temperatures along with how cold and damp smelling the house is.0 -
No heating on here yet but have really noticed the drop in temp. I've gone from wearing a vest top to my house cardi. This one goes over my normal clothes to postpone the heating being on just that bit longer.
We never have ours on overnight as dd1 gets too hot but this winter I'm not first up so am wondering how dd2 will cope when she gets up first!Don’t put it down - put it away!

Nothing needed even though I was inclined to think it might get cool enough for the thermostat to help.
When I got up to do dds feed (4:15am) I was glad to feel it wasn't too chilly indoors even with lower temps outside so I'm back to trusting the lovely extra insulation in the walls and lofts. :T I'm always less sure as our last old (old!) home was as well insulated as we could get it, but just couldn't keep as toasty when the temps dropped off outside.
Anyway, our stats: thermom. showed it as 20.0 in our coldest room at 4:15am and 20.3 at 8:15am. I've just checked our weather station and it's 6.7 and glorious sun outside.
So, the s-side of the house will be lovely and warm all morning with this sun blasting in through the kitchen doors and windows...so it's been breakfast, a cuppa, and now some homework at the table and we're planning a little gardening/playing before lunch. A nice lazy Sunday.0 -
It's now on here, was chilly last night so I switched it on and set the thermostat to 18 degrees. It has kicked in a few times, but quite warm now, so just turned the thermostat down for the dayWell Behaved women seldom make history

Long live the menopause........lol.
Just got summer bill in, Way cheaper than I thought , I thought it was going to be huge due to fans being on all over the house.
However, it turns out fans are cheaper than heating.
Still off here so far....but my feet can get cold now, but i"m always barefoot. Socks will be coming out soon.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0
