Still off here, still just adding another layer in the evening/morning and no one has complained of feeling cold yet. Our aim is to keep it off until November unless someone becomes ill.

I nearly cracked this morning! It was colder with the windows shut today than yesterday with the kitchen window open!

My microfibre fleece poncho (least sexy garment ever created) is going to come into its own this week. Slipper socks are on, and the candles will be burning tonight. If I can get to the weekend without cranking on the storage heaters, I will.

Mine is on - I let the thermostat decide. That's its job :D
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • First day I considered putting on the CH low for a little while early morning but as our boiler has packed up, that luxury will have to wait a little longer. We will use heat as and when we need it but it will be a need and not a want. Had the oven on this eve and some clothes drying with the dehumidifier and they have really warmed the place up. Intend to start baking bread and cakes etc again so the oven will be killing 2 birds.

Saving Queen, that's something I need to keep in mind, thank you for mentioning it.

Ours will be going on soon, on the timer at intervals throughout the day but not for very long each time. The house heats up quickly so you can't keep it on for too long.

It shouldn't be needed today though, its lovely and sunny here and the sun beating down on all our south facing windows will warm the place up nicely :)

I must admit, I did crack this morning and put the heating on for half an hour:o, but my excuses was because it was for the kids getting up and ready for school:p

It is a lovely day here now, sun is shinning and feels quite warm, got the washing out on the line as it is rather windy, perfect laundry drying weather while my chickens roam the garden, I love autumnal days like these! :D

  • Gosh, it must be getting cold, leave this thread for a few days and there's several pages of new posts! Sorry I can't click thanks to everyone, so I'll say it here - thanks for posting and keeping this thread interesting!

It must be cold here in Manchester, yesterday I noticed people in woolly hats, big coats, and scarves. I was walking around in a shirt, it didn't feel as warm as a few weeks ago but not cold enough to wrap up that much just yet. It definitely feels a little chill in the evenings outside now but house not feeling cold inside.

But so far, heating not on, it's like a battle of wills between me and BG lol!

ETA: well not so much of a battle just yet, but things will intensify when it does get really cold!
