My house too is very small and extremely well insulated.I am mid terrace and have had the walls foam filled and have around 6-8" of loft insulation..I made sure a couple of years ago when the prices started to rise that it was as well insulated as possible. My son-in-law is a surveyor and part of his job is to rate houses for energy levels and how much folk can save on various bits and pieces to help keep their bills down.He did a survey on my house and after various things had been done I have got an 'AAA' rating for energy conservation.I had a new boiler fitted as well which made all the differance .I now pay £43.00 per month to EDF which covers my heating and lighting.so I think I am pretty well covered for costs.I used to live in a very large rambling 4 bedded house that was a money pit to heat before my late OH and I decided to 'downsize' Best thing we ever did I think. No huge bills and a warm house in the winter.I have one double and two single bedrooms a reasonable sized kitchen and 12x14 ft sitting room.Thick curtains and a porch at the front and a conservatory off the kitchen at the back so more than enough room for me to rattle around in and I don't have to fret about big bills.
You have a great bill Jackie - is your house a newish one or an old terrace? My own is newish and the insulation levels great but all the older houses I have had have been expensive to heat and pretty cold.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

They also have onesie (also from Primarni) and they put a t-shirt or long sleeve top on underneath.
I answer the door in mine and now my postman seems almost disappointed if I am in normal clothing! I even answered the door to my DD's boyfriends Dad, I invited him in out of courtesy and he accepted......I did have to apologise for being in my onesie but he just smiled and said it looked very snugly! :rotfl:
Lol........
Well I have just tried to work it out and it seems I have spent 140 on gas since 20th sept, not sure if this is bad yet, but that doesn't count the heating being on constant-ish when it's really cold.....i am going to get a onesie.....i'm not very MSE and wander around with nothing on my feet most of the time, but have been wearing sock slippers recently and am much warmer. I don't tend to like piles of clothes on (my age I think too at the moment and the odd internal heatwave going on)...but am going to try one as I agree it will save me money.
Asda here I come (nearest shop), and look out delivery people!Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
I've caved in and put it on for an hour in the morning and about an hour and a half in the evening. We have my MIL staying and I don't want her to be cold. Must admit its nice to not have to wear so many layers and it not be too cold to get out of the onesie to go to the loo!!0

Went on for a hour this morning. There's some sun coming through the windows now which will hopefully last a while, makes a big difference to temp inside.0

I am managing with the heating on much less this year already. I am in a new rented house now which is much warmer than the very cold large bungalow I lived in last year.
Yesterday I didn't put it on in the morning as I'm up and out within the hour and in the evening I did a quick blast of heating for an hour to 19c and then had my 3 homemade plant pot heaters on. I managed to get my front room really toasty0 -
Mines on , twice a day for a couple of hours. Then there are fleece blankets for when we are watching tele . I do get cold during the day if I sit , so I try to keep busy0

Not on here, bedroom at 10 degrees but warm enough with a duvet and quilted throw on and living room at 16.6, 18 yr old DD in her giraffe onesie and nice and toasty and 16 yr old DD not surfaced yet! DH at work so a bit of housework and I will soon be toasty0

Windows were open yesterday for a couple of hours for some fresh air as it was sunny and mild here in the south.
Heating went on last night for 15 minutes a time at 5pm, 7pm and 9pm. I find that's enough to keep the chill off at the moment. We have furry throws in front of tv and woollies on.
Sunny again today, so curtains open early to let warmth in. They will be closed again as soon as it starts to get dark.
My boiler is over 20 years old but with annual servicing is working really well. Have done some research and I'm not sure I would save enough to make it worth replacing. Bills come in at £77 pm gas and electric for last 12 months in 3 bed terrace and the heating was on a lot more last winter. Heating off here. I am not sure why! I have been out all day, getting some stocking fillers for the boys, and have come home to a reasonably OK house (temp wise i mean!).
I imagine it'll get colder as the afternoon goes on, but i am off out in a bit anyway to pick up my bargain radiator cover that i won from eBay0 -
On constant at 15c to take the chill off as not felt great the past few days. Will be back to just morning and evening in a couple of days though0
