Mine is off until the temperature in my room gets down to single figures. Presently 12 degrees so a bit to go yet. (That's the gas fire, not the central heating). Central heating is far too expensive to contemplate switching on!0

still the current status.
Although if i close the door you can guarantee that one of the dogs will want a wee!0 -
I admire and pity all of you in equal measure. Warmth is my luxury and planned into my retirement as a major expense as I have poor circulation like Mrsdwhite. My latest house is new so excellent insulation which means I can just turn the heating on morning and night and unless exceptionally cold manage the rest of the time without it. During my adult life the cost of housing/rates or community charge/utilities has swung right round and is now utilities(mainly heating) then council tax and now at last housing is bottom of the pile, as have no mortgage. I hope you all manage to get through the winter without incurring debt, but I think the emphasis is on 'manage'. I will be one of the old dears heating but not eating for sure.Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

definitely on now as the weather has changed. But I put it on only for an hour at a time as and when needed and that way I have cut down on consumption.I am in and out during the week so its not worth heating an empty house .It goes on for and hour in the morning when I get up then if needed in the evening for an hour and I have found thats more than enough to keep my little place warm0

I don't know how people manage to put the heating on for an hour, my house usually takes 2-3 hours to get warm when the heating is on.
Have had the heating on occasionally, mainly to test how much difference it makes to temperature.
I think I need the insulation in the loft topping up.
But at the moment, the thermometer in my living room says 13C and am quite happy to cope with that without the heating on.
My feet do feel chilled while the rest of me doesn't so got some thick thermal socks which seem to be doing the trick for that!0 -

My house is a TINY 2 bed terrace, so takes about 15 mins to heat up0 -
Heating still off here, we are coping well in the evenings with just wrapping up warm, having candles lit, onsie on Ds, thick throws on the sofa it feels really cosy and manageable at the mo, thinking about popping the electric blankets on the beds soon tho as the last few nights it has got really chilly when we first get into bed.G.C July £21.09/£1000
