  • No heating on here yet.

DS has woken with a terrible head cold this morning so a day at home, wrapped up under the throw on the sofa is in order for him today I think, If he gets too chilly I'll give in and put the heating on for an hour or so.... hopefully it won't come to that.

  • None on here. LR at 16.5 and our room at 12 degrees, eldest DD said she was cold last night with pj's on, duvet, fluffy blanket and a large throw on the bed? I didn't think it was cold but might have to give in soon and put it on for an hour or so if they keep complaining.

I'm happy my heating is on as it's very nippy here today. My hands are cold at my keyboard and have to go and let doggies out in the garden soon. Brr.

The blanket on top of our king size duvet is helping keep in the heat, I'm thinking about getting another one to go under the duvet as well.

  • Have just read the rights to DD1, (15) she is staying home from school today and I have to go into work, I have told her that if she ventures out of the bed (if) then we need to ruff it with eiderdown and hot water bottle as otherwise santa will be bringing rationed pressies.... poor mite looked at me like I had just wrung her neck.... I'm afraid to say I have not been keeping a reign on the heating at all and have been having it on 2 hrs in morning and 4 at night, so it HAS to stop, The house laden with fluffy robes, vintage eiderdowns and the kids are complaining its cold because the heating isn't on for long enough... this has to change... slap on my own wrist and going to change that in the next 5 mins, will change the heating timer to only an hour tonight, don't wanna shock the kids too much. walk before I run and all...

My heating is on from 6am to 9am and from 3.30pm to 8.30pm, with the thermostat at 18 degrees.

I'm going out today, but if this cold weather is going to continue, I may have the heating on for longer, later in the week.

I feel as if I am wildly profligate having my heating on at this level, compared to some posts I've read.

But I want to be comfortable in my home. I'm not afraid to put a jumper on if I'm chilly, but I don't want to sit here in fleeces and blankets, just to save a couple of quid.

Maybe I'm out of step, but if you can't be comfortable at home, where can you be comfortable?

  • I feel the same, re comfort in your home, however, it has come to my attention that I am forever feeding the meter and the kids are still complaining, So it's back to the drawing board to make them wrap up and take advantage of the many fleece robes, eiderdowns that I grafted so hard to buy, I'm not promising to stick to the 1 hour heating per night, however, I am willing to see how it goes, which is a start, afterall, we ARE in Cornwall, not the Highlands where the cold is extreme, so I feel like I'm being somewhat of a whimp.:p

GOLDEN GIRL........I say same as you about the cold, I refuse to be cold whatever life throws at me..........Id give up anything to keep warm, I dont smoke or drink, Idont eat out , or fast food cafes etc , I dont shop everyday , I dont have a decent mobile , I dont have sky tv, so yea the heating goes on at 21 degrees when its cold, and I have the luxury of a open fire when I sit down of a evening.........................

Now it's getting chilly the heating is on morning and evening and I make use of layers, fleeces, a hwb, all the usual things including the dog and cat ;) when I sit during the day. I'm very fortunate that I have a small company pension but with the price rises the 'heat or eat' problem still affects me somewhat. I certainly don't intend to freeze, and I won't die of starvation while I can boil a pan of porridge or spag, or make a jacket, or chuck some veg in a pan for a hm soup.
So yes, heating on from now on.

The heating has been ON..i am really cold at the moment :( I dont normally feel it too bad, but for some reason i am struggling today. Not too sure why.
Just turned it off now and hope to keep it off until tomorrow.
  • Our heating is now on (timed) my kids get up early 5.30-6.20 so the heating is set to come on at 6.20 (in the hope they stay in bed longer lol) and only stays on for an hour as all the rushing around for school keeps us warm! It also comes on in the evening for an hour and then the cooking heats the house too. When all kids are at school/pre-school I leave the heating off and just wrap myself up instead. I am hoping that our bills dont go up anymore. We wrap up on the sofa at night when the kids are in bed although they do love to kick off their covers so I am laying the covers in different ways to try and keep them on!
