Is your heating ON or OFF?

Evening,
My heating is on for a hour in the morning for when DD is getting dressed for school and an hour in the evening- for bath and pj time. There isn't anyone home during the day so it stays off.
My house doesn't take long to heat up thankfully and seems to hold the heat well too. DD goes to bed with a hot water bottle and an extra blanket and then I turn the heating off. I am more than happy snuggled up with a hot water, under my fleece blanket for the evening.
If the snow hits I will pop the heating on for longer, but for now I am saving where I can!

I am due to have bubble wrap delivered tomorrow to stick on the windows, going to see if that makes any difference, though it's already double glazed and given the age of the house (Victorian terrace) it probably loses as much through the walls. Maybe I could cover the walls in bubble wrap, I did have to buy quite a big roll...0

Hi
Having read a lot of posts on this thread, I've smiled at some and felt so, so sorry for other posters too....
Just under 3 weeks ago, our boiler started making the sort of noise a steel band would've been proud of! I have no central heat or hot water. I am in the process of losing my job, so asked my dad if he knew of anyone that could help us. He rang one of his ex army mates (now a heating engineer, who said he would come and have a look)..he couldn't come for the foreseeable. I have the advantage of having a coal fire, so made a few plans. My DH and I (well, me really!) decided that I would have 2 days per week 'cooking'. So on the two days I cooked we stayed in the kitchen with the tele on, then on the days we didn't, stayed in the living room after he came home from work. I used a hot oven to roast for example, a small pork roast, bake apples, also bake a pie...it really is worth it and heats the room too
The best part was today, when dads friend came around...I was almost sad, as its made my partner and I realise what's important; doing things together- we are still without water and heating (centrally), but feel something else has been gained
I may need it given the job loss etc - stay warm everyone
X
You only get one life - but if you live it properly - it's enough! :rotfl:0 -
Feeling a bit achy (may be coming down with something), so my heating is on atm.
Temperature was 54f when I got home.
It's now 59.4f.0 -
Got my fire alight and now sitting down for the evening , so only need heat in this room as no other rooms used after tea time , so cosy and warm after a shower and got a thin onesie on.............0

Mine had the nerve to come on this morning (thermostat was set to about 14c), so i gave it a good telling off and turned it down a bit.0

Mine's on atm, but only because I need to dry some towels.
It's going to be a cold one tonight.
It's already below freezing outside, and it's not even 10pm yet.
Just put brand new sheets, pillow cases and a 15 TOG, King Size duvet on my bed, so I should be nice and warm tonight. :cool:0 -
I think there is something wrong with me, I have been freezing today but the thermometer in my hall said 16.8 deg. Maybe its because I was sat still and working all day. Was such a relief when the timer flicked on at tea time.
I've just looked out and the roof of my car looks frosted / glazed already. BrrrBossymoo

I was musing this morning bout the cost of completely encasing the outside of the house in bubble wrap (victorian also)
