Ha ha that's funny, my bubblewrap not arrived yet so not had chance to try it out, maybe I should have gone for the jumbo 50m roll...
ETA: Have just discovered the bill predictor on British Gas, so put my current meter readings in, I am £107 combined since October 8th, with a predicted bill of £250 on January 8th, I guess my challenge is to try to bring that down whatever way I can, so the heating will be staying off as much as possible, I will also monitor the electric vs gas. At least it gives me some control and I know what the bill will be rather than getting a nasty surprise to start the new year...
I did try to work out how much the boiler cost per hour by running the heating for an hour, but the main meter reading didn't change (the red bits whizzed round, but it tells you on the bill to ignore them so am not sure what they are for or what they mean, which I will need to find out to do any kind of calculation!)
Had a visitor so had the heating on for a few hours aside from my little test, but even though it's 1C outside I seem to be managing reasonably well, the fan heater does warm the living room up in 20 mins, and it usually stays around 16C if I keep the door to the kitchen shut, for a good few hours (usually about 10-12C when I get up after no heating on overnight).
I guess this thread might go quiet for a bit if most people have their heating on now the colder weather is here, but I am going to try to be a stalwart and remain in the mostly off camp for as long as possible!0 -
mould and humidity. Better to be informed

sorry to scare some people but I have known about the mould triggers for a long time. No point me just keeping stuff to myself when this article explains it so well. Dh was affected, never at home or in the office but when he had to go into various homes and buildings in his work. Some of the moulds are very nasty indeed.
Cold, humidity, lack of ventilation0 -
No heating on here. It's -2 degrees outside and the LR was 16 degrees when I got up but I knew the girls would be freezing so I have put the fire on for 10 minutes and it is now 19 degrees.
Fire now off and girls gone to 6th form so heating will stay off all day now.0 -

Dh's dad rung the other night and has offered us a log burner, we jumped at the chance, just got to find the time now for dh to drive the 180miles to go fetch it, then we'll start looking into prices of having it installed, then start saving the pennies.G.C July £21.09/£1000 -

Yes, not sure if you are saying that's good or bad?
Apparently it's below average use for my area?0 -
I was sitting on the sofa watching TV last night and I was a bit cold. I'm thinking of investing in a onesie as they seem to be so popular on here.:DHOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000
