Still off here in Bournemouth. We had it on for an hour on Saturday to warm DGS bedroom but he has gone home now. We found out that 2 radiators aren't working despite bleeding them, so waiting for the plumber. Glad we found this out before the cold weather arrives! My secret fantasy is having 2 men....

Still off here, did have DD squinny about being cold, but told her to put a jumper on...
Do have the wood burner on in lounge, with the doors open throughout the house, its been fine.
Its a bit of a challenge now, want to leave it as long as possible, have bought the kids (15 and 17) fleecy blankets for Xmas - we have 2 on the sofas, and they keep nicking them, so I know they will be used, and I will have warm tootsies when I get the sofa blankets backNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Yes hopps, we have that cold wind too, up here on the hill overlooking Bath. I had the heating on for a couple of hours last night, and an hour so so this morning.
At twilight today I popped out to the local shop, and came back toasty warm after the brisk(ish) walk, so have not turned it back on yet. I do have the Lakel*nd heated airier on, also the dehumidifier, as I've had a recent influx of rain soaking the wall in the hallway. I'm not cold yet, and when I am I'll just put the gas fire on, as I don't think it's quite so cold tonight.Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!0 -
My fuse box is broken and my storage heaters (and anything connected to night tarriff) don't work. Fortunately someone will come to fix it tomorrow morning.
Good job I turned it on before became really freezing.0 -
I relented and put it on last night for the first time; temperature seems to have dropped a fair bit. We had been managing with the woodburner but when you move around the rest of the house it's really cold. Doesn't help I feel the cold due to medication I take so I always have more layers on than DH and the kids!Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0

Came home last night (after de-frosting the car to get home!) fully intending to give in and put the heating on as it was 10degrees in the bedroom and with the frost I didnt want to risk any pipes bursting but decided to leave it until today and just go to bed instead.
So first thing when I got in today - went round and bled radiators so heating was on for 20mins so I could do that but off again now.
Im planning on probably having it on half an hour in the morning and evenings at the mo just to warm up the house - as long as it takes for my thermometer to get to 18c
It may end up off again dependent on the weather - but for this evening im giving in-now iv got this thermometer I can make sure we are not blasting it out for the sake of it and this should help save us a few pennies in the long run - just checked and its 9.2c in the bedroom

You do know you are supposed to bleed radiators, with the CH off and cold?0 -
Still no heating but did light a fire earlier, whilst it was lit it would have been rude not to toast a few marshmallows wouldn't it"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
