How do people know what temp their rooms are? We are on Economy 7 so I don't know what temp we have in here.

I bought a temp reader off ebay, about £3/4 i think..one of those gadgets I don't reeally need but being a bit of a nerd I've enjoyed having it around haha.

Mine read 9 deg C this morning after the frost, but rubbish seeing as we had the heating on last night during Downton ( :D ) and the house doesn't seem to have retained any heat at all. Oh well, whacked it back on this morning. The heating that is, not Downton lol.

Oh it's interesting that so many people have them.:) I'm wondering whether people take the temp in their homes for health reasons or for money saving reasons.

I just saw this one on Amazon, I might buy that:
LCD Digital Temperature Humidity Meter Thermometer

I just went out to put out the recycling and it is definitely still frosty here.

  • We have a digital wall clock in the living room that gives time/date/day and temp, at the moment it is 17.8 degrees in my living room but that might be because I had the patio doors open to air the house (hate it feeling stuffy). DH wants to test the heating as we haven't had it on since April this year, I am trying to put it off as long as I can as I much prefer to be chilly rather than hot.

Bedroom is 13 degrees and absolute heaven when I get in the bed at night, lovely and chilly :o

Neither. My wife is a bit OCD about temperature. She likes to have a thermometer in every room and checks them to see if she should feel cold or hot.

We've been lighting our fire most days for the past week, although no back boiler so it only heats the one room. Luckily one small bucket of coal seems to last most of the day! We bought 25lts heating oil in a drum and DH spilled some of it trying to pour it into our awkward oil tank. It needs bled so it's still not been on, but I'm pretty sure we'd have given in already if it was all set to go :)

That is like me! I have thermometre in every room (+ digital for outside). I feel coldish all the time so if temperature is not below 16 C heating is not on. :rotfl:

I don't know about the rest of you, but I've got a clock/thermometer on my wall.

Currently, it says my living room is at 64f (about 17.8c), but it feels much warmer, courtesy of the sun shining in the window.
