  • I wish this damn weather would make its mind up.

One minute it's lovely and sunny :) , next minute it's overcast and raining. :(

No central heating because its broken. We did have the gas fire on last night. I'm baking cupcakes for the bonfire tonight so currently sat in front of the oven waiting for the second batch.

Still not on here, bit chilly this morning but I could put more clothes on/slippers on. Currently with a blanket though. Children not feeling it yet, suggested they wear a jumper but they aren't cold. Mother in law had a major rant on facebook after I posted about not having the heat on yet. My DH said central heating is a luxury and she got really cross for some reason! I think she thinks we are tight and freezing our children, but I had said it hasn't gone under 16 degrees in the house yet and the kids really are fine. I grew up without it, waking up to frost inside the windows and I am hardy and tolerant. That's how I want my children to grow up, if we let them get soft now then when luxuries like heating become unaffordable/unobtainable/rare (and they will!) they will be able to cope.

It's quite warm here with the sun shining and we have our back door and our windows open. Ours is still off but I'm reading it might be a cold winter so we are keeping it off as long as possible.

  • Still off here in the south east, but I wish it wasn't! I so hate being cold :( and already look like the Michelin man with so many layers on...... but only indoors. I take layers off to go out! (obviously wearing a coat too).

I am going to get thermals ready for the really cold weather, not looking forward to the frosts. DD has a small electric heater in her bedroom, as it has 3 outside walls and gets very cold, but she is under strict instructions not to have it on much, just to take the chill off.

Still lighting candles and tea lights in the evening to have one warm room, and it really does make a difference to the temperature.

Not looking forward to the winter 'proper' at all :eek:

:rotfl:Mines still off, i'm froze but we haven't got a roof at the moment as we're in the middle of having a new one, mmmmmmmmm like sleeping in a tent.:T
  • Sun is now shining in my living room window, and the temperature has risen to a pleasant 64f (about 17.8c).
  • Mine is still off - I wavered a little this morning and told OH that if he was really cold we could but it on for half an hour but he said he was warm enough and understands why we are going as long as we can without.

It was 12c in the livivng room this morning but i made some gingerbread at lunchtime for my Guides and left the oven door open to cool down which made the living room an almost toasty 16c! And the sun was shining in there a few mins ago - that always warms it up.

Shame iv left it to hole up in the spare room to study...oh yes - must get back to that....:o

Thank you to everyone who wished me well after my car accident yesterday.
I woke up this morning to some sore muscles around my mid-section, but my spine and neck seem fine so far, so that's good. No permanent damage to me. Just the car.

I had the heating on nice and hot all afternoon and evening yesterday, but now it's off again and I'm perfectly warm enough. Bright and sunny here. It was very windy earlier, but it seems to have calmed down a lot now.
