Most definitely on here! Only at 18deg but it does keep clicking on. And the littlies have gone to bed with "warm cuddles" aka hot water bottles
I'm wearing slipper boots but my toes are cold. I can't decide if its the soles that are not so good, or I'm just over tired. We'll see tomorrow, and if I don't feel warmer I may pop to Primarni for some cheapy boots with a proper sole to use indoors. Sure they were only £6 last winter, so cheaper than most places slippers!Bossymoo

On! I was cold and as you get older you need to be warm. When my girls were young we lived in a house with no central heating or double glazing. Just an open fire in the living room. I remember ice on the inside of the bedroom Windows. (This was in the seventies) so I know we are all a bit spoilt nowadays. But I can't handle the cold now so it had to go on.0

No heating on tonight but it will be tomorrow. We will be testing out our new boiler and having baths!

Still off, due to my inner child playing with matches
I've got a question. It might have been brought up before, but I'm a bit baffled. When people say their heating is off but the log burner/fire is on, doesn't that mean the heating is on? I'm not judging, by the way, just easily confused0 -
The past couple of days I've got the heating on between 11 and 1pm, which is when it feels coldest to me. Then it's off for the rest of the day. I light some candles in the evening and that keeps the living room at a reasonable temperature.
It'll only be for November that the heating is on in the middle of the day. I'm off work this month, but back to the grindstone in early December.Because it's fun to have money!

I currently see clients at home for my small business, so I have had the heating on when they come, but as soon as there are no more clients it goes off.
Felt a bit chilly when I got up today, but feels reasonably warm now.
In Manchester, not quite sure what the temperature is outside or inside (need to get a thermometer) - but as far as I am concerned I am going to hold out as long as possible, apart from when clients visit!
My plan is to acclimatise as much as possible, and only put heating on when totally necessary.
I have also made my own "meter" - every time I have used the heating I put all my loose change and a pound or 2 in a jar, this way when the bill comes in 3 months' time, I can count out all the pound coins and take the change to a coinstar machine and it might take the sting out of the winter bill which will be due in January...
ETA: live in an old Victorian terraced house so no cavity wall insulation but is double glazed and loft insulated, have a house either side but the neighbour on one side has just been evicted so any heat generated is going to leak into unheated house on one side...0 -
Flubberyzing and Bedsit Bob, you're spot on about the heating from all sides helping, especially below.
The flat below me has been unoccupied since at least last October (I know this as I went to view that as it was for sale at the same time as mine!). The new owners moved in this week and since last night my flat feels even warmer. Long may this continue!"Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Still off as still fairly mild here (not had any frosts yet) and the flat seems to stay quite warm anyway (could be due to others heating, yay!).
Discovered newish OH is a bit of a radiator himself. He is still getting hot at night and throwing duvet off most of his side of bed (no jim-jams either) so if I feel chilly in night I cuddle up to him. Don't tell him I'm only after his body-heat.
We are going to resist putting the dreaded storage heaters on at all if we can - unless we get another really freezing snowy winter this year. They are such a pain in the neck to control and expensive, too. The flat is quite small so just cooking/drying a load of clothes helps warm it up, and we are happy to wrap up.[STRIKE][/STRIKE]I am a long term poster using an alter ego for debts and anything where I might mention relationship problems or ex.
