Love the sound of the card. Most shop cards are either super soppy or really tacky, that's why I started making cards myself, most of them make me cringe.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Oh yes, there were plenty in the cringe category - It's such a load of tosh - can't believe I've bought into it!0

Thanks for the pruning roses instructions I have a huge climbing rose and clematis that I need to prune before I can paint the pergola underneath. :T

Hello
Hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day. I didn't get a card but opened my purse yesterday lunchtime to find 2 homemade bracelets with mine and the girl's names on - awww :happyhear
DH is far more thoughtful than me - I'm very lucky.
I made the M&S meal and got dolled up, dressed the table and we sat there feeling a bit silly and laughing at being "romantic" :rotfl: It was nice though and made a refreshing change
Today, I've been playing with the Mortgage overpayment calculator and from May 1st I think we can up it by £400 a month. DH is getting a company car shortly, so is diverting the payments for his car to the joint pot and I'm paying in an extra £300 of what I used to spend on debt repayments.
The surplus (if it works out in practise as well as theory ) will be used - for the first time in my life - to save. Never again do I want to have to pay for MOT's or car stuff on a CC. I want to have a pot for that and treats as a few people have suggested.
I'm very scared of becoming slack and getting back into debt, so I need to find a way of sticking to a budget....0 -
Aww to your valentines day. I got, urm, rather less than that.....but then again, I didn't exactly expect anything!
And your overpayment and savings plan sounds good to me! I am sure you will do brilliantly at it come MaySuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
The bracelets sound sweet :T
Since we've been debt free and had a surplus each month I've found it easier to put away the money I know we'll need during the year, in chunks over the past few months rather than break it down into monthly amounts. I wanted it in the bank so I knew it was there before I felt comfortable spending anything on frivolities (frivolities this month being roller boots - I think I'm having a mid life crisis - but my excuse is any exercise is better than none!)
Knowing that everything that's due to be paid this year has a "pot" in the bank means I can concentrate on saving proper rainy day money or spend without thinking "hang on, how much was I supposed to put by for xyz"

Thanks - it was nice, but we don't normally do anything. Dh hates being dictated to by greetings card companies and refuses to be sucked in.
It's load of tosh anywayBut I'm sure Hypno, you will have a queue of ardent admirers waiting in the wings, when you're ready :A
I'm off to see Black Swan tomorrow evening for Orange Wednesday - incidently with my 40-something friend who has unexpectedly found true love in the last 6 months!
(Not trying to make you sound like a saddo - you just don't know what's round the corner)
