    Can't believe it's been nearly a week since I've posted :o

We went to my in-laws on the South Coast for a couple of nights, then into London for a night on Monday. Had a lovely time with my in-laws and escaped the snow here
We took the kids to the Science Museum and they both loved it, then onto the Diana Memorial Playground which was nice. We met up with some old Uni friends too and a good time was had by all!

Moneywise things are tight. Think I was abit too lax on January's payday in the dregs of the sales. Tomorrow is payday and is very welcome. There are loads of offers and sales tempting me, plus it feels like Spring is in the air and that makes me think "New Spring Wardrobe" :D

My MOT and Car Tax are due this month though, so they take priority. I also want to start decorating - we've been here 6 months now -can't believe how fast that's gone, but now I want to start making it feel like ours. Whilst we were away, little DD woke up one morning and said "I thought we were in Mrs X's house! I mean our house" so the time has come. Of course, being an old house it might not be a simple paint job, but whatever we do it will be done properly and if that means a new carpet and re-skimming the walls (:o:o:o) - then so be it!

Hope everyone's well and having a good half term, if applicable :)

I think, that having now been there for 6 months or so, you will have a far better feel of how the place should be decorated - too often it is "easy" to make a quick decision soon after moving, but until you have actually properly "lived in" the space, I don't think you can really know what it is you want there.

So, perfect timing - and I am sure that with careful planning (which is the fun bit) you will be able to do a huge amount of beautiful work without it interfering with the money plans too much.

    enjoy :D

    Lovely!

:rotfl: she's got a turn of phrase, that little girl of yours :rotfl: tell her you can take the hint :rotfl: the decorating I've done has all been about neutralising (dark red that meant having the lights on made no difference ) or the actual building work for the second loo, so I'm not far behind you.

Hope you are not drowning in paint colour charts, and that you have a good weekend :D

  • Have a good weekend, sounds like a trip to pick up wallpaper samples is called for.

Hiya, well I *have* ordered some wallpaper samples Gill ;) and as for drowning in paint charts Hypno - well, I always have a few knocking around :D
We're doing the living room first. It's a large room covered in wallpaper, but we want to paint it. I'm preparing myself for plastering, especially if I take my friend's advice and replace the "cheap and nasty" ceiling rose
She's right, it's not original and it's the kind of house that deserves to be restored, but there are a couple if cracks in the ceiling which make me nervous. A new ceiling rose, could end up as a new ceiling, and walls needing replastering/skimming and then a new carpet = mucho ££££'s

So we'll have to cost that up and weigh up whether doing it on the cheap is false economy.

Today though, has been child-centred - as was yesterday. We met with 2 friends and their troops and went off for a long walk in a park and had a lovely lunch, then back here for tea (and the odd glass of wine once cocktail hour struck!)
This morning I took DD! to ballet, then for school shoes - full price sadly. There were some in her size on the sale rack :money::j - but they were "too tight" She's the slimmest thing in the World too!
So then back home, wrap a present and off to a party with little DD, then grab the party bags, said our thanks and raced to a panto. It was fun for the kids, but I think my coffee table had more acting ability :rotfl:

Not a cheap day then, as I had to order new ballet things added to school shoes equals £78, but all necessary spends. Tomorrow will be spent in the garden weather permitting, clearing the site for the veg plot whilst thinking about the decorating, so should be a NSD.

Hope the weekend is treating you well of you're reading :)
