Some bits of good news in there, but I'm not sure about *over* sleeping, tho I know its a phrase we all use - it sounds like you need some downtime, and a real catchup - here's hoping you can do that this weekend.

Definitely sounds like you need a relaxing weekend I am sort of aiming for one too in that I am having a second coffee in bed but there are lots of jobs to do outside and as the weather is good that will be top of the list fresh air will do me good.

Glad your DH persuaded you to go easy on the decorating front I am sure it will look lovely with a fresh coat of paint that's all we are planning on doing thank goodness we did the replastering a few years ago every wall and ceiling was a different design of artex  so I have nice smooth walls. Architectural purists look away now:o I am thinking of painting our beams white downstairs to give a more light modern feel we did it in our bedroom which is in the attic and it made such a difference just have to break the news to DH :D

  • Hi DT re painting the beams, on an MSE note, won't that de value your property?

    Good Morning all :hello:

DT, I Like beans painted white personally, I think dark ones can be too heavy and overbearing - so I'd say go for it! ;)

KC, DH has taken both girls to ballet, so having already set the washer dishwasher AND dryer going, I feel I can legitimately return to bed with another coffee and the papers :D

We don't have a babysitter for tonight. My usual girl is ill, so I asked my Mum. She loves to keep me dangling for some reason, it's as if she ponders whether or not she feels it's a worthy cause. For example if I need her to look after the kids because I'm working, she'll say yes without a moment's hesitation (she *always* asks why I need her ), but if I say it's cos we're going out, she'll say she'll think about it!
Anyway yesterday she said they could have a sleep over at theirs :j This was a shock, as they have only slept over about 4 times in their lives!
This morning she phoned to ask if we could leave it, as she's off to see the King's Speech and won't be back until 9pm. (It starts at 5pm - so it will be nearer 7, but I'm not arguing)

They were painted black when we bought the house so are not au naturel so it would be reasonably easy to paint them black again in fact easier than it will be to paint them white :) especially as there are quite a few of them there are two large beams in a newer extension that are stained I won't be painting those but especially as the two rooms with black beams are in north facing rooms I think they would make such a difference painted white.

Sorry Macgirl that you have no babysitter I would help out if I was nearer.

That is a kind thing to say - thanks! :kisses3: My friend said we can bring the kids, so we'll see. They are very good friends and we all have kids so we help each other out.

I think if the beans were painted black - then where's the worry? Paint them white, it will open up the room and look lovely!

More washing sorted into ironing basket and other stuff sorted, folded and put away.
My clothes orders arrived and most will be sent back - free delivery and returns and £'s saved on diesel = :money: Though I am keeping some khaki chinos, 2 tops and the loveliest comfiest sandals from ToSho I've ever worn :D

I've just been playing on the mortgage overpayment calculator. From May we are planning to overpay £400 a month. This will reduce the term to 15 years.
Ideally we'd like it gone in 10 years, when we'll be 50. Unfortunately, we had to take out an expensive rate fixed for 5 years with the new part of the mortgage, which equates to 6.6%.

It the rate was 5%, monthly repayments would be £300 a month less, therefore we could overpay more and reduce the term to 13 years. Anyway, we don't know what's round the corner - good or bad. If I'd been debt free when I received this windfall, the money could have been used for mortgage, not debt.
Fingers crossed, when we come to change our mortgage deal in 4.5 years, we'll have paid off a significant amount and have more equity to get a better deal....

Right, back to the laundry and some hoovering!

Oh I see, I was think they were au natural. As Mac says it will make no difference only will be much brighter and clean looking for you and pleasing to the eye too. You just need the energy to get the job do e now :D
  • Mac I'm sorry your mum let you down last minute. Hope the girls weren't too disappointed too!
