I woke early this morning - before 6 despite going to at 1am
so had to get up. We had an hilarious night last night. Great company, gorgeous food, too much wine and loads of belly laughs
My Mum rang at teatime to say she would have the kids, but I declined and we took them. They had a great time with their friends, though little DD asked for a blanket and went to sleep on the sofa! (bad Mummy) DD1 was squealing with excitement at going home in a taxi/van :rotfl:
Our friends were all on sparkling form, so a good night was had by all!
Today, I will do a basket of ironing, change the beds and book flights for our holiday :j We're going to my parent's place in Spain, so it will be relatively cheap, considering it's the school holidays.
I've hunted around for the best prices, but there are no real bargains to be had unless we take the kids out of school and I don't want to do that, so we'll have to bite the bullet today. At least I can get £4 back via Quidco
DH has bought a juicer, which came free with a book by the UK's expert on the subject. He reckons he had bad psoriasis and ezcema for years and since drinking juice every day, they've cleared up. I'm definitely going to try that for DD1, as her ezcema is particularly bad at the moment and I don't want to keep relying on steroid cream. DH and I are going to try juicing for a general health boost and in an effort to shed poundage before we hit the beach!
Right off to start the day with a [STRIKE]coffee[/STRIKE], I mean hot water and lemon :A0 -
Sounds like a perfect Saturday night - and you are certainly not a bad mother- unless she needed to sleep on the sofa because she had passed out having been plied with alcopops by you.....:rotfl:
I need to have a bit of a health kick in the next few weeks - it is 6 weeks til marathon day, and I have been eating and drinking far too much recently.....so although I won't be juicing, I have made a shopping list and menu plan that are a little more "athletic" than my recent habits!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. I always find it easier to eat well for health than purely to lose weight. As I regularly mention, I am a sugar "crackhead" (as a colleague so eloquently put it) and was reading an article entitled "Is Sugar Making You OLD?" _pale_ Nice. A friend said her husband followed that diet as he is also addicted to sugar. He also followed the 49 weight loss tips in Runner's World and lost half a stone in a week!
When I told DH about this, he ears pricked up - as it was another bloke who'd followed the diet, it appealed to him. It'll cost us about £100 a week in fruit - but all least we'll be thin and full of vitality! :j:D
Just booked the flights :j Whooppeeee!!! (£1005 though:o:o)

I'm certainly not looking to lose any more weight - it has been stable for months, so I am happy with that - but I do need to consider the fact that I will be attempting 26 miles in 6 weeks, and that needs the right "fuel" for the old engine!
So, less crap, more basics for me - that doesn't mean cutting out anything, just keeping it in balance I reckon. However, the "crap" element of my diet has escalated somewhat over recent weeks, so I do need to give it serious effort.
I will focus on that finishing line being my goal......and on that note, I had better get my garmin off charge and head out of the front door!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Of course you're not a bad mummy! She wanted to go to sleep, so she didn't try to stay up and go cranky, she let herself have what she needed!
As far as health is concerned, totally agree that its not just about putting the good things into your diet - its about cutting out the crap, our bodies have to work so hard to cope with it, so its great that you're cutting it out.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Mac little DD will be fine she got her sleep and let you have a good night what more could you want.
As for the sugar I am a complete sugar addict, been long known for it. I can be so full after a meal that I've had to leave some on my plate BUT I am NEVER satisfied till I've had sugar so no matter how full I still have sugar to satisfy me...how disgusting...I'm not over weight (maybe just a few pounds) but like you say its the health element that bothers me.
I have tried to give up sugar before cold turkey style and I was literally pacing the kitchen like a junkie and a few days in and I had an upset stomach and blacking out episode:cool::eek:
I'd be interested to hear more about the juicing diet, good luck with it.0 -
Sounds like a good night was had by all, including DD.
Was thinking about you yesterday (even though I don't really 'know' you) - I was in the butchers and it was obviously chucking out time at the local dance centre, village full of tiny little girls in pink cardigans with HUGE rucksacks on their back and one poor mother was pleading with her daughter "if you just sit quiet and let me finish my shopping I promise next week we can go to the park" as the little darling kicked seven kinds of **** out of everything in sight. Other daughter stood there as if butter wouldn't melt in her mouth as if to say "it's not me, she's not my sister, I don't know her"Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: That DOES sound familiar!
She was just getting acquainted with some of our neighbours, who were playing football. She was chatting away, then 10 minutes later, she's in goal! The Dad commented that she's got a good kick - Hmmmmm, he ain't seen nothing yet  She has pink cheeks and is full of it, so a good day for her.
Meanwhile, I was weeding, cutting dead wood and finally finished the mammoth job of pruning the over-grown climbing rose :j It has new growth from where MiL started it in November, so we haven't killed it and should see nice healthy blooms in the Summer.
We've had a good blitz on the house too, DH hoovered whilst I stripped the beds. DD1's bedroom is yet to do, but I had to leave it and take advantage of the sunny day.
We made our first juice; apples, cucumber, celery and half an avocado. It's meant to be good for skin conditions, so DD1 and I have said we'll try having one every day and see if we can see any improvements. Either way, it's a good way of getting more fruit and veg into them. I'll keep you posted.0 -
My healthy eating has started off well too.....I bought a 3 pack of caramel eggs (creme egg size), and only ate two of them, giving the third to DD.
See, it CAN be done :rotfl:Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
