Porridge, blueberries and banana - is that an athlete's breakfast or what! Brilliant - and enjoy your hairdressing visit.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Thanks! I'm all glam in the style of Nigella (but with less money ) As well as switching to the cheaper stylist, I got £5 off! :T :money:
Parked in Sainsbo's carpark, so that was free as I needed a few things :money:
Came back and had lunch with Mum - bought her some tulips as a thankyou for babysitting. Right must go as little DD is nagging to play on the computer, so I'll make my butternut squash and chickpea curry for tea and it will be nicely marinated0 -
Morning!
Just read an email from Flylady - I LOVE FLylady!! She is one smart and inspirational lady.
Today she talked about "the beautiful place between All and Nothing at all and how through babystepping you can get there and be kind, patient and loving to yourself" The constant joy from being debt free, the peace that comes from knowing where everything is in your ordered home and a happy healthy you, once you are rid of body clutter.
There's other stuff too but I can't paste it here without breaking MSE law, I think...
I know I have a few readers who have already achieved the above, but to those who are still on the journey, I'd say to find Flylady and sign up for the daily emails - she's a wise lady and as I said, tres inspiring! :A0 -
It is indeed baby steps, not only to "get there" but to remain there - constant assessing and adjusting......but with the enjoyment of life along the way.

Wow. I got the flylady emails for ages, but lost them when my old email account got closed down .... that sounds lovely, macgirl.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I must try and find the flylady stuff again. Might be the kick I need. Ouch to the eczema though. Well done on getting your hair cut for less, and it makes you feel good too! Butternut squash and chickpea curry sounds amazing, I once had banana and chickpea curry, which sounds awful but was really good.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

Oooh banana and chickpea - that sounds worth investigating! The one I use is on the BBC Good Food website.
I like FL because she's about more than just cleaning. This morning she was talking about your inner child, finding a photo of yourself when you were young and how you wouldn't scold that child. All quite deep I guess, but she does get to the bottom of why we have cluttered houses, bodies and finances - so she works for me! (she says, scoffing 3 Oreas with her coffee :rotfl::o)
Still though - I *do* feel slimmer :j The exercise and watching what I'm eating DOES work!? (mock shock) Who'd have thought!
Anyway, the house is clean - though no longer tidy, but I'm not stressing, DH and I lugged the (bloody heavy) new mattress upstairs - it is like rock hard foam, but I'm sure we'll get used to it. The old one, I'm debating whether to put it on Freecycle - I hate throwing things out, but don't know if it's a bit "Ewww".....I'll have a look and see if any others are offered first.
Later I'm meeting a friend for our usual Saturday catch-up then taking DD1 to her swimming lesson - the little one gets off this week due to fake tonsilitis  She was tearing around at the school disco last night, shouting her head off. It's painful, but at least I had a glass of (warm) white wine to numb the pain:D:D
It's nice and sunny here, so I'm off for a run later and then will try out my new handweights - £6.99 from TKM :money: - with the Pilates DVD. Other than that it will be pottering at a slow pace - it's nice not to have any plans for a change and not have to rush anywhere - and breathe......:)
Have a good day all x0 -
You took her to the school disco in the end! Good for you - and I'm glad she enjoyed it once she got there...
FL does sound good, I like the sound of her too.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Yes, when I picked DD1 up from school yesterday, the Headteacher asked how the little one was. I said she was ok just devastated that she would miss the disco. She said to bring her as there were more bugs "than soft Mick" flying around! :rotfl:
Well KC, thanks to you and Gill, I am off into the garden today! I'm going to order a new growhouse online. My old plastic one fell apart and got skipped before we moved, so I'm going to get another smaller one, but made from wood so it might last a few more years. I'd had one in my basket on Amazon (that's what I do now - give myself a cooling off period before I buy :A), but they're sold out now and the same thing from other sellers are a tenner more expensive
You snooze, you lose.
Anyway, I'm going to start with pruning my climbing rose. It's a monster - due to years of neglect according to my green-fingered MiL - so it won't be finished today. Plus I'm wondering whether it might be a bit too early, as we're still prone to frost in these parts.....
I'll nip to the garden centre on the way back from swimming and get a soil testing kit for my new veggie patch. On one had, I'd just like to put plants and flowers in, as they make me happy, but I'll have a go at growing edibles in the name of MSE first.
Wow, what a rock n' roll life I lead these days! :rotfl:0
