The girls had a friend over to sleep last night. This morning I woke to them carefully explaining to her how they had worms
:o:o
Little DD, said "......yeah, and my Mum had to look in my bum..." MORTIFIED!!!!! :rotfl:
:rotfl:And you can just hear the conversation over sunday lunch when they go back home to mummy and daddy.......'yes we had a great time, they had worms'

DH has had problems with his back for some time and thinks it's because of our crappy mattress. It's from a famous value Scandi store with blue and yellow signage.
We bought the bed 10 years ago, but had to have the mattress replaced when the springs started poking through after a couple of years - nice!
So, we are loathed to buy another from there and have just taken the plunge after careful consideration, and have ordered a memory foam one. It's not the famous expensive brand, but it was expensive enough at £539. There is a 60 day satisfaction guarantee and loads of independent reviews from satisfied customers, so it should be ok and hopefully sort his back before it gets worse.
This is money we hoped to use overpaying the mortgage, but with a new house there are a few things to buy before we can concentrate on overpaying, so that will start in earnest in a couple of months.
Right off to clean up, change the beds and start the ironing mountain. The kids will be roped in to help and then once their homework is done, they can go and play on the trampoline while Mummy battles the elements and drags herself out for a run!
Have a good day peeps!0 -
I had a new mattress when I moved here - worth every penny
Round one of my ironing is done - waiting for the next lot to dry then will start again - I am determined not to have an outstanding pile of ironing when I go to bed tonight!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. The wino returns (or woni, as I first typed
) Today I have the Mother of all hangovers. We went out with some other friends last night and drank all sorts - champagne (not ordered by me I might add) wine, baileys, vodka, sambuka! Urghhhh, I really am not a drinker and although it was a great night, I have suffered today. Most notably at Tap Dancing
You went tap dancing with a hangover? I am *full* of admiration for your energy and determination :rotfl:
On a brighter note, my Dad and I went to collect my discounted cabinet and it looks lovely. DH asked what I was going to put in it and I said I didn't know.
"Oh." he said deadpan "That was worth it then"
Brilliant! :rotfl:Good Morning
Well, hypno the calories of alcohol this week added up to over 1100! That is an exception rather than the norm, but I still feel rough this morning
I've weighed myself and have lost.......nothing! I'm gutted but it *is* my Star week as they say in SW and I have lost an inch from my waist :j I do *feel* slimmer and lighter, so hopefully next week it will show on the scales too.
You're still in control, its just part of the process.
No exercise for 3 days, so today I will be going for a run - not yet though as it's lashing down here - and then I'll do some of my DVD.
I had thought we might go out for the day, but I've got a ton of ironing to do and the kids homework etc, so I think we'll just stay home and snuggle up.
This house is such a happy place to be, that I really don't want to be anywhere else on a weekend now. It's definitely lowered stress levels considerablyDH has had problems with his back for some time and thinks it's because of our crappy mattress. I wish I'd done this - I bought a new mattress too when I moved to this house - didn't even think of looking at independent reviewsturns out to be the most expensive item in the house and its dreadful, it does exactly what I don't want, which is a kind of "nesting" effect - its even in the piece of card stapled to the end of the mattress
good for you for researching it properly.
2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
We have a memory foam one, it's actually 4 inches of memory foam on top with a normal foam bottom rather than traditional mattress - it's wonderful... I wake up in the same position I fell asleep in...they do take a while to get used to though and you do get a lot warmer, we used to need a 15 tog duvet (cos we like to sleep with the windows open) but we've gone down to a 10.5 tog now."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. So I take it that my fight with the duvet and tossing and turning to get comfortable isn't normal? Funny what you get used to, my bed is pine slats and if I sleep on a sprung divan I feel like I'm on a trampoline.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
"The days pass so fast, let's try to make each one better than the last"0 -
KC, my FiL has very bad rheumatoid arthritis and they have a memory foam one - it's the only way he can sleep. Think theirs *was* the uber-expensive one, but I'll ask them and let you know.
By the way, DD1 was tapping - not me, I was just watching which was bad enough. That would be a sight for sore eyes, since I have ZERO co-ordination! :rotfl:
Well, tidied up, all hands on deck which was good. The girls stripped the beds for me, so another 10 loads of washing and we'll be straight
I took them to the park as a reward. They went on their scooters and as it's pretty miserable - but was dry - we had the place pretty much to ourselves. Then the clouds gathered and the heavens opened. Of course, they still wanted an ice cream??!! So we bought them and walked home in the rain - bonkers but fun.
Next is late lunch and then the ironing session will begin. Hope there's a good film on, I'm in the mood for a Mary Poppins kind of afternoon!0 -
Thanks for checking it - that'd be interesting. Its occurred to me I might not have to replace the whole thing just yet - I could buy a memory foam topper, and do something about infilling the hideous nesting thats occurred. I did make a complaint, but they've yet to come back to me.
Aw, I thought one of your many activities was adult tap! Sure you don't want to take it up?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
KC My Mum used to do adult tap and my sister and I went to see her in a show once. It was hysterical. She was tapping one way, while the rest of the troupe were going the other way! She was concentrating so hard, but couldn't get it - it was pure comedy! :rotfl:
Luckily, she has a great sense of humour and the ability to laugh at herself. I would definitely be as successful as her....so tap dancing is a no-no for me
Massive basket of ironing done, another load in the washer and dryer, so I'll do the rest later. Homework done, little DD is storming ahead with her reading, so I'm delighted for her. She really has turned a corner and I think is settling at school around mealtimes :j
Her sister on the other hand, thinks she's 26 - not 6. We have just been discussing our approach to parenting, I think perhaps we are too liberal, then when I've tried to explain my reasons for not letting her do something, she sees this as an opportunity to keep negotiating. She keeps on and on, until I lose my temper  I hate getting cross with them and try hard not too, but it's inevitable sometimes. Then I feel full of guilt
DH thinks we're too soft, so he's a bit more hardline, which I don't agree with as I think it teaches them to shout back.....:wall:
Right, off to make the beds while kind DH is making tea - happy days...0 -
Good to read that DD is more settled. Long may it last! As for parenting - well, there are no rights or wrongs really, are there - whatever you do, someone will have a different opinion, and is anything actually going to work 100%? Nope!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
