Hiya and thanks all :A:A:A I wasn't looking for any sympathy :o Just sometimes I don't have any money news and think a diary on the DFW board should include at least a bit of that!

    DT :kisses3: Thank you xx

Hiya RED :hello: and thanks for your kind words!

Gill and Hypno - I hope you're well! xx

Well, DH and I have been having mortgage conversations. He will have paid off his car in March, so is going to divert that £150 a month into mortgage overpayments, which will make ALOT of difference.
With the mounting cost of food - I used to reckon it was about a tenner per carrier bag - not today 5 bags = £85! - so with that in mind, we are going to turn the neglected flowerbed/rockery into a veg plot. It's 3.4m x 1.8m, so is plenty big enough. DH said he will get some decking planks and make a raised bed, but first there are loads of massive stones to shift. I want to stick them on Freecycle and get rid, but he thinks we might be able to use them....*sigh*

Which brings me neatly to my next topic - decluttering. I cleaned/decluttered like a Demon on Friday and carried on yesterday. Today? Well the house looks like a TIP, so I'm giving up and having a few hours R&R on the sofa :D
I am concentrating on a room a week and trying to do a bit each day - Flylady styley. I'm determined not to let it mount up and as DH is a hoarder, I can't be.

I went running this morning - 10k and did 20 mins of BOBF too plus 5k during the week :A
Last night DH and I went to see Micky Flanagan - he hails from the same part of London as DH. I'd seen him a few years ago, so got tickets for DH's birthday and it was a right laugh and good for DH.

We seem to be getting back our pre-kids social life - yippee!!! :j I was a party girl in my 20's and early 30's but that stopped for a few years. Not that I was bothered, I'd seen and done it all, so didn't really miss it - plus I was too tired after little DD's antics  I don't need crazy nights anymore, but it's just good to meet friends and have a few laughs every week :D

Went to see Tangled this morning (Disney Princess film - DH LOVED it:D) and tried to be MSE by taking HM popcorn and drinks - still cost a packet though

Hope everyone's well and having a chilled day :) xxx

You are talking about mortgages and freecycling......what more do you want for a DFW diary :rotfl:

And you are also talking about "a life"......my new favourite topic :T:T

de lurking to say, my whole life changed at 40 and I struggled at first but then found contentment. Love that word, being happy goes hand in hand with contentment so I am pleased that you are both content. Long may it last.

Thanks Cheri! Please don't lurk - come and hello every now and then :)

I have a friend who is 40 later this year and she is so depressed about it. I have my Mum's attitude that it's only a number - and besides, what can you do?!
It's weird to feel so different though. Perhaps it's just coincidence, because we moved house and have more space, the kids have lots of friends nearby and all our lives have changed for the better.

Either way - I certainly hope it lasts for many decades to come for us all

I dont believe in coincidences. Your life is what you make it for yourself. One thing that I do believe is that by the time you are 40, you have generally dealt with so many things in your life that you relax into things. I know now that whatever faces me, whilst it might be difficult at the time, I can deal with it as I have been through other problems. Also I think that you learn to enjoy things more and chill out instead of fighting to get to the top of the career ladder, trying to be a superwoman and get everything done and actually appreciate the good things about yourself.

Hi macgirl! Glad you've decided to stay :) I loved being 40, it was great for me, really a pinnacle. And now, finally, I feel like I'm getting back there, which is lovely.

I know I have only been 40 for a few weeks - but this DOES seem to sum up the position that I feel myself in right now!

And I am loving it :D

Yes, I agree! We are currently getting to the "chill" stage as just this weekend DH has asked why we have to rush everywhere? That's my next goal...
