Really enjoyed the party and it was great seeing all my extended family, there were plenty of laughs
No running today as the pavements are like sheet ice
This morning DH and I lazed around for a few hours, the kids were out playing in the snow - even though there's more ice than snow - with next doors kids.
We're forecast more this week, but at the moment we don't have as much as people do further North.
Anyway, I had a feeling my parent's were going to pop in in the way back, so we blitzed the house and they turned up just as we'd finished :T (What? The house is *always* this tidy :A)
So, today is a day of guilt free lazing around and relaxation. Then I'm going to make a cottage pie and some chicken goujons for tomorrow evening.
I've been slowly reading Great Expectations in answer to FW's 100 Books you should read thread. I've realised that I feel like I'm missing out on the present when I'm reading books from the past. When I was younger I loved lying on my bed for hours reading. Nowadays, time is so precious and always filled with other more important (and mundane) tasks, and when I do read now, it's the papers or MSE or magazines to keep up with what's happening in the here and now...
Anyway I'm waffling, so off to do the ironing. Enjoy your Sunday0 -
That sounds lovely! Kids happy, you and OH are happy, good party, the house blitz worked, you've sussed a wrinkle about reading. Perfect!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Was thinking of your take on reading this morning. I finished the book I was reading 'Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy' - again, and was looking for something to take with me. I have plenty of time to read in hotels, but at home never seem to make the time. Stacks of books that I love and read often, but couldn't find anything I wanted to read.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

I think I'm too nosey Gill, I only have a certain amount of reading time so don't want to miss out on anything current. Having said that, I'm always left feeling dissatisfied with whatever magazine or paper I read, so Im persevering with the books.
Well, woke to 6 inches of snow and the kids were up and dressed and out throwing snowballs at 7am! :rotfl: We're due more tonight, so I'm expecting to have to dig myself out in the morning.
Tonight I'm planning to do some online shopping and if I can nip to the shops later this week for some vouchers - I'll be all done! :j
I need to put together the Pots of Gold for the teachers then and start thinking about Christmas food....
Hope everyone is well, warm and coping with the weather0 -
I love reading! I get bad tempered if I can't read for a while! OTOH, I've read some books so often that even if I leave a gap of years, it doesn't mean anything any more - thats why I gave away Jean Auel's Earth's Children series ... John Wyndham, the old fashioned disaster book bloke, is another one
I'm warm tho! Just wish it was summer already.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Enjoy the snow! Ours is more ice than snow now - certainly won't be heading out for a run for the next few days!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

I have to say KC, I love the adventure of getting about in the snow and feeling smug that I've made it into work, when others who live close by "can't" (CBA)
I'm toasty too. I bought a few pairs of thermal socks from the garden centre and got some fluffy insoles for my boots!
Obviously, this is only day 1, if we have a month of it, the novelty will soon wear off.
When my sister lived in LA she really missed the seasons, and I think I would too - all those palm trees and year round Sun :cool:0 -

Thanks Hypno. DH saw the snow this morning and the first thing he said was "I'm going for a run tonight". Weirdo.
I'm more than happy with my hoody, scarf, thermal socks (x 2 pairs) and fire on full belt! Not very MSE, but as it says in the Joy of Laziness - you need to stay warm to live longer, so that's my excuse
(Not that my arteries will be furring up through lack of movement and too much stodge)

I love the snow too! To be properly prepared tho, I need wellies, and a proper hat. This
is what I feel like! Too cute, but you get the drift, har de har :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

OK, as someone who has difficulty walking in snow, how do people manage to run in it? I've asked my brother this, and he just looks at me like I'm a weirdo. But I really struggle to keep myself upright, so is it just a confidence thing?
I love watching children in the snow though. My youngest nephew was about 9 before he saw snow, as it always fell overnight then disappeared, I'm sure he thought we were making it up.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0
