I am planning on going for a run early in the morning and have my hat and gloves ready
I'm just watching Sarah Beeny's Restoration programme - dangerous for me. I really want to decorate the the living room before Christmas, especially now we having my in laws.
DH doesn't doubt my determination and vision, but is worried in case of unexpected issues and me getting stressed when I've not finished it in time....
Anyway, there's no harm in looking at paint colours now, is there?0 -
Nope
:D:D
OOh, and I like Sarah Beeny - for a long time, I called her The Blessed Sarah
Enjoy the run tomorrow morning ... brrrrrrrrrr......2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
DD1 arrived in our bed at 3am this morning - chatting away like it was the middle of the afternoon  Hence, I overslept and didn't run. I didn't mind too much as it was freezing and I don't have a hat, so I bought a cheap one this morning.
I've just had the most amazing facial :A It's only the second time in my life I've had one, but it was worth every penny. I've been a bit stressed over the last few weeks - well decade - and I know I need to start looking after myself a bit more. I do worry about every little ache and pain and that can make me very anxious if I don't nip it in the bud. So I've enquired about Acupuncture too and may start that in the New Year.
After a week of eating well and cutting out coffee, white carbs and most sugar, I feel much more balanced and I want that to continue. Of course, "looking after yourself" with these supplementary treatments, ain't cheap, so I'll have to factor it into the budget.
I need to take DD1 to the Doctor's today. Her ezcema is really bad at the moment and I want to see if she'll refer us to a dermatologist. But before that, I need to go and see my elderly uncle who is dyingI can't say I'm looking forward to that. What do you say?
Anyway, hope anyone reading is warm and having a good Friday0 -
I love the whole looking-after-yourself vibe, good for you. I'm sorry about your uncle tho - as to what you say... the normal stuff, and listening, really. He might want to disappear into the past, or he might want to talk about the practicalities after he's gone .... its a hard thing, undoubtedly, and I've only had to face it with clients, never a family member. Take care.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Thanks KC :A
It was great to see him. He still has all his faculties but has had surgery in his mouth, so it's difficult to understand him.
He was up and eating an egg and said he felt better today than yesterday, bless him. He's 82, but until recently looked about 62 - such is his positive outlook and joie de vivre!
I'm glad I went to see him. While I was there, another uncle was talking about his wife who died 6 months ago, so we had a little cry about that, but they were all very philosophical and upbeat even though it doesn't sound that way!
Mortality is something I can't quite get my head around, but being with my elderly relatives today has made me appreciate living in the now
Anyway, DD1 was mortified that I'd taken her out of her beloved school to go to the Dr's (and there was me trying to be a caring Mum and sort her ezcema ). The GP is going to refer her but has also given her anti-biotics and other creams to try. She is great and said her own children had it and she understands that it's difficult to pinpoint a trigger, but that hopefully it will improve as she gets older.
DD rolled her eyes and said "Can we go back to school now?"0 -
((hugs)) re your Uncle.
my DD had severe eczema and ended up in wet wraps for 6 months. It was a bit of a nightmare going through the routines for that time, but after years of trying different creams, lotions, diets etc, it was amazing how much of a difference the wraps made.
Now she only has occasional flare ups in times of extreme stress, so infinitely better than the top to toe bleeding skin of her first 7 or 8 years!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Yes, her skin does bleed but only when she picks it because she "likes the colour of blood" What do you say to that?!
Our GP said she didn't need the wraps, but has referred us, so hopefully things will improve one way or another.0 -

At the moment there is absolutely no sign of any snow here, so as long as you can get out of your part of the world (yorkshire(?)) you should be okD It's freezing here, but no snow thankfully. I hope it stays off until Sunday at least. We're at a family party in Liverpool on saturday so I don't want to miss it due to snow.
((hugs)) re your uncle
It's always a difficult thing to do , but I've generally found that its better than you think its going to be. The hardest thing ever was a friend who died of breast cancer aged 33, and she was so pragmatic and making plans for the children etc.
